Hidden Oasis - House in Manzanita with 3 decks, walk to the beach

Let me preface that there’s another Vacasa home I nearly always stay at for my yearly coast trip, but that was one appears to be either temporarily or permanently off the rental market. This house in Manzanita is cozy, but there are some things I wish I had known before staying. 1.) The house sits on an incredibly steep hill, with very little grass of its own. Accordingly, I had to walk my dog up and down that steep hill to go to the bathroom many times. You also need to walk up a fight of stairs to enter the house, and another flight if you’re taking the upstairs bedroom. All that to say, that it’s WORK to stay here with an animal. The proximity to the beach, however, is nice! 2.) Getting into the home was difficult. It’s unclear how to get in exactly (there’s a master lock with keys inside it), and once I called and got instructions the lock was still incredibly finicky. I would suggest replacing the Master Lock. 3.) The house is coastal vintage, meaning that it doesn’t have a lot of modern amenities and is somewhat difficult to heat. 4.) There were no “extras” in the house, outside of soap. I was particularly annoyed by the lack of coffee, which most homes I’ve stayed in do have. My stay was not unpleasant. The house is spacious and the area is very quiet. However, it is unlikely I would stay at this property again.

The house accomodations were great but the cleaning crew could use some help

We had an amazing time I at this location. Close to the beach and down town. Set in a quiet beautiful neighbor hood. (Deer moved through the property on Sunday) We were able to all eat dinner together and yet disappear to separate areas to large living rooms with big comfy couches upper and lower decks with gas fire pit.. This house has wonderful light with many sliding glass doors and decks. While many appliances are dated they are all in working order. Portable dishwasher was something I hadn’t used since I was a teenager! All kidding aside we had a wonderful relaxing time here!

This house worked ok for us, but if you're thinking of renting, you should just be aware that it is very dated with numerous quirks and maintenance issues. First, it is not bright and sunny inside as the picture suggests, but fairly dark. And the indoor lighting doesn't do much to help. The kitchen is quite dark, has few outlets, not much counter space when cooking for large groups, cookware is very poor, cold water faucet doesn't work if you want water to drink, dishwasher is small and must be hooked up to the kitchen sink so you can't cook while it's running--and it's very loud. There are also ants in the kitchen. and kitchen sink is very hard to shut off. Downstairs bathroom sink barely drains and shower is very short (even if you're only 5'6"). Upstairs bathroom only has a hand shower, so essentially only one shower in the house. Two sliding glass doors are broken and unusable. Maintenance workers looked at but just declared them broken. Windows are all pretty creaky and hard to open. And if you are bringing small children, know that there are 2 very long flights of stairs with no way to block them off.

The dishwasher didn’t work. Not even connected to power and water. The right half of the stove didn’t heat. Not enough forks in the kitchen for our whole group. Big thumbs down.
