The location and views are wonderful. The house is nice. As other reviewers commented, the kitchen is not well stocked and the pots and pans are in terrible condition. If you plan on making any food, even simple things, you'll need to bring your own cookware. Check out is early, 10am.
This is a nice rental, but we ran into issues that put a dent in our enjoyment of the property. The pros: Nice-ish view. You’re limited to a section straight out from the house. Bushes and trees block out most of the view, but what you can see is nice, and you can easily hear the ocean. It was comfortable and clean. We slept well in the master bedroom and our daughter said the upstairs bed was comfy. The hot tub seemed to be clean and was reasonably private, but could be viewed from the neighbors’ houses. Kitchen had all the usual appliances, but some of the utensils are old and a bit rusty. When we used the mixer, dried dough flew out of the motor. There’s a nice path with stairs that leads down to the beach. You need to climb down some medium sized rocks at the very bottom. Not too difficult unless you have walking issues. The beach is pretty flat with a wide tide range. You can probably walk for a mile or more up and down the beach in both directions. We were there in early March and only saw 1 or 2 other people the whole time. There are lots of fossils laying on the beach, so it’s fun to look for them. They’re about 20 million years old!! There are 4 beds in the house, but the arrangement could be a bit odd. The master bedroom is on the main floor, but it shares a bathroom with the other bedroom on that floor, and is the main bathroom for everyone during the day, So that can be a bit awkward. The two other beds are upstairs, but they are just in a loft area that overlooks the livingroom, so no real privacy. There is a bathroom up there, but only one door into it that’s next to one of the beds. Probably good for kids, but the whole arrangement might be weird for a group of adults. The shower upstairs leaked through the ceiling into the dining area on the first floor. That was a mess and put the upstairs shower out of use, so we all had to share the master bath. The hot tub is nice and you can see a bit of the ocean in the daylight hours. The cover had a thing that helps you take it off and put it on, but that was broken so we had to drag it on/off manually. Overall, I still gave it a 4 star rating (maybe 3.5) even with the issues (which I hope they fix) because the house is pretty nice, beds were comfortable, the view is pretty good, and beach access is great. Hopefully the owner will spend some time there and get all the little (and not do little) issues fixed up. I’ll also mention that the property is close to Newport, so you’ll have lots of good dining and recreational opportunities, but be very careful of the driveway. It’s small, and not well maintained. When turning off the highway, it’s dangerous. I also don’t like the late (4:00) check in, and the early (10:00) checkout times.
This place was perfect for our family! The house and all amenities, the view, beach access, and hot tub were phenomenal. Super clean, too. Customer service top notch- Thanks!
