The Big View

Great location and incredible view of the ocean. Stairs to the beach give great access. Loved to be able to see the beach from the kitchen, living room and the balcony was a great place to sit and enjoy the ocean.

Great view; easy walking to restaurants and coffee shops; love this beach!

The GOOD. The view is wonderful. We have stayed here several times over the years. A new couch was added. The BAD. All the other furniture needs to be changed. It's very uncomfortable. Both of the bathroom sinks drain very slowly. One of the window on the south side in the living area won't close because it's sagged beyond repair. The outlet on the west wall didn't work. Several light bulbs were burnt out. Several wall mounted racks are held on by one screw, toilet paper holds, towel rack The whole place needs a good cleaning. It had surface cleaning but needs much more. Until they fix some of the problems, there are several other places in the area, for that matter, in the building that would be better to stay in.

The view is so good, any other small short comings are quickly forgotten. From the living room, you can see Yaquina lighthouse, the old lighthouse, the Newport Bridge on 101 and of course miles of beach! Walkable to the main part of Nye Beach with all the shops and restaurants (and ice cream!). Very homey and easy to get comfortable in, with a small, but full kitchen so restaurants are not required for every meal. The pool looks clean and nice, but being April, we didn't use it. No elevator to the third floor, so keep that in mind if stairs are a challenge. We already booked it again!

View is good but not worth it

Overall we had a great stay at The Big View. Nye Beach is super cute and close to everything we wanted to see (less than 10 minutes to the Oregon Coast Aquarium!). The ocean view from the living room windows is spectacular! Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, the couch is horrible. One arm is broken and wobbly. It’s hard and lumpy. There was no comfortable seating in the living room from which to take in the glorious view :( Easy fix, though - just get a new one already! A couple other easily-fixable things to note: the bedroom blinds let in a lot of light from an exterior light which made it hard to sleep (blackout shades!). The pillows were weird and lumpy and need to be replaced. The toilet in the hall bathroom looked like the bowl hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. There were no pot-holders in the kitchen so we had to make do with the two kitchen towels that were provided. And the oven door won’t open all the way because it bonks the handle on the corner cabinet next to it (soooo easy to fix, just nudge the fridge and stove to the left an inch or so). The bed itself was very comfortable! And when the dining table light went out, we contacted Vacasa and the issue was fixed immediately. I was able to pay a little extra for late check-out, which was really nice. But as I was loading up the car (half hour before checkout time) the door code stopped working. My 5 year old was inside and was scared to answer my knocking because he knows about stranger-danger. Fortunately he finally let me in when he heard me calling and knew it was me! Despite all the issues, I give it a solid 3 stars and we had a great time.
