Overview
SS Rose Haven
Perfect for a coastal getaway with friends or family, this Arch Cape vacation cottage offers beautiful ocean views, a quiet, relaxing location, and lots of nearby shore for exploring! This cottage on the northern Oregon Coast is the ideal respite from everyday life - nestled right between Hug Point State Park and Oswald West State Park. When you're ready to explore the shore, beach access is only three blocks away. The beaches on this part of the coast are quite scenic. Take a short drive to Hug Point to discover a seasonal waterfall, caves carved into sandstone cliffs, and tide pools accessible during low tide. While Arch Cape is a small, sleepy residential community, a bit to the north is bustling and popular Cannon Beach featuring numerous galleries, shops, and restaurants. The town of Manzanita is about nine miles south, and you'll want to take an afternoon to explore the small bookstores, galleries, and bakeries here. Inside, you'll be surrounded by comfy sofas, rocking chairs, hardwood floors, and a wood-beamed ceiling in the living area. Everyone will be able to pick their favorite spot to read a book borrowed from the shelf, watch DVDs and Blu-Rays on the TV, or just hang out and talk - all with breathtaking views out the large picture windows. Not just for a summer vacation, you can watch dramatic winter storms right from the warmth of the living area. Any time of year, a wood stove provides both heat and ambiance to the living and dining areas, inviting you to enjoy leisurely meals and post-dinner discussions while finishing off the wine and watching the sunset over the ocean. A full kitchen (no dishwasher) provides you with all you'll need for whipping up tasty, homemade vacation food. Outside, you'll find a deck with a bench out on the bluff for unobstructed views of vast horizons, ocean surf, and stretching shorelines - from the prominence of Cape Falcon to the east to closer by Arch Cape, Castle Rock, and Hug Point State Park. Look north to distant views of iconic Haystack Rock and rugged Tillamook Head. If you look carefully or bring binoculars, you will see 'Terrible Tilly,' the Tillamook Rock Light House isolated a mile out at sea. Other amenities include WiFi and a washer/dryer. THINGS TO KNOW Firewood is not provided.

Overall, gorgeous views, prime location..the amenities are lacking. For instance, the kitchen sink backs up into the bathroom. No garbage disposal and no dishwasher. A few upgrades would make this property outstanding.. as it stands now.. I recommend but with reserve about the aforementioned items. A hot tub or a fire pit would have been amazing.
This is such a world-class location perched above a spectacular beach that nothing else really matters too much. It is small, but the space division is lovely so that people in the bedrooms do not really hear activity in the rest of the house. The windows open for fresh air and the sound of the surf. There is not only a private yard but a small fenced area so dogs can go in and out easily. That is a huge plus. The property has not been updated for many years which is OK, as quaint cabins on the coast are standard. Vacasa's management however has done the owners of this property no favors. They charge top dollar but ignore that a deep cleaning is long overdue, as well as basic maintenance of both yard and house. There were numerous issues of which we notified Vacasa, including broken yard furniture, dirty sheets, Ivy infestation coming right up through the outside deck, grit and grime accumulation, gate held in place by zip ties and entry difficult storm door/keypad. No need to swear I will never deal with Vacasa again because they have been sold. I hope the owners of this property get better service from the next company. This unassuming little house is a quiet retreat with a stunning view. I would go there again, especially in hopes of better conditions from a new management company. It won't be hard to improve on Vacas's 10 a.m. checkout (!?) and barebones perks (no coffee, no filters, no firewood). I concluded that Vacasa does absolutely nothing that is not electronic, and has possibly never even seen the condition of their properties first hand.
We sat out every single night and watched the sunset from the bench. It was a quaint space but had everything we needed! I will absolutely stay here again! Easy access to the arch cape beach, close access to many other beaches, hiking trails and waterfalls.
Lovely house with lots of privacy. Comfortable, Great view.
If you like walking on the beach with your dog, this location is AMAZING! You will love the beach this cozy cabin sits above. (And it's high above the beach in case you are thinking about a tsunami)
I had a great stay at this rental home. It's very cosy and has a warm, homely feel that made me comfortable right away. The location is perfect—close to the ocean beach and peaceful. The house is on the smaller side, but it was just right for a relaxing stay. The furniture is basic but functional. Overall, I really liked it and would happily stay here again.
