We booked this trip to celebrate my son's 9th birthday. His ONE request in booking a place to stay was a house with a hot tub. Vacasa knew that the hot tub at this particular house was broken prior to us even booking it and chose not to update the listing OR communicate that fact with us, which would have resulted in us immediately canceling and finding a different option. We checked the hot tub immediately upon arrival and noticed it was ice cold and the buttons didn't work. We called Vacasa, and that's when we were informed that this was a KNOWN ISSUE. We explained to them the purpose of our trip, and even offered to use a hot tub at one of the (many!) other vacant properties they had nearby so we could give our son the birthday weekend he wanted. It would have been a huge inconvenience for us, but even that was declined. In addition to this issue, we were not able to access the thermostat in the main living space of the house the entire trip - it was set to 62 degrees and was incredibly cold. There were no instructions about how to access it, in the Vacasa app, VRBO app, or house manual. I messaged through VRBO and didn't get a response for 2 days. I messaged through the Vacasa app and still haven't received a response to that message. I called the number in VRBO and was told that it was no longer checked. I called the number in Vacasa and got two codes shared with me a full day later. Neither of those codes worked, and then I didn't hear anything else (despite an additional phone call and message) about it until after we checked out when we just got an "oops sorry" message. (During all of these contacts, I also asked for follow up on the hot tub issue, and never got that either). All Vacasa did was offer a TINY percent of our money back because of the missing amenity. It was a completely inadequate response to their lying in the listing and conning us into booking this house with a known issue that they chose not to inform us about, and they ruined a child's birthday. I will never, ever book another property with Vacasa as long as I live, and I will use every opportunity possible to scream from the rooftops how terrible and unethical of a company this is. I have never experienced such a horrific response with the customer service of any organization, and their callous disregard for the impact of their actions is unparalleled. The house itself was super cute, and board games, books, and movies were provided, which would be great under other circumstances. If it's ever managed by a company other than Vacasa, it's in a great location as well, and I'd recommend it. The only caveat to that is that the space between the railings of the loft and staircase are not up to code and could be an entrapment hazard, something to be mindful of with young children.
great communication and beautiful property. however, they only left maybe half a roll of paper towels for a full weekend stay and with a house that sleeps 6, it was really inconvenient to have to find a local market the morning after we checked in for more supplies. the hot tub jets are apparently on a timer - there was no manually adjusting these when you got in the tub, so we were sitting in still water most of the time. if there's a way to program the keys otherwise it wasn't listed anywhere, and as a owner of a hot tub myself feel like it usually isn't complicated. the advertised wood stove had a sign saying we couldn't use it so we were wondering why it was included in the listing.
Loved the rental and neighborhood. Very friendly people as you walked around! Highly recommend!
This is no cookie cutter rental. There is beautiful handmade pottery and art around and the place feels like it has been lived in and loved. At the same time, amidst all this warmth is a professional level of clean, and the location is perfect for walking to the river and the community pool. We love cooking in the well-outfitted kitchen, playing boardgames at the large dining room table or living room coffee table, and relaxing in the amazing sheltered hot tub in the forest!
Clean, beautiful, and wonderfully private for a romantic getaway.
The place is a perfect base camp for a weekend of hiking. There was just 2 of us but would be comfy for 6 or more. Plenty of provisions in kitchen and bathrooms making this home extremely functional. A nightly soak in the hot tub was just what sore hiking muscles needed.
