Overview
Nana and Papa's
As its charming name implies, Nana and Papa's is a true retreat on the shores of Wallowa Lake that will make you feel like a kid again. In this spectacular spot overlooking the lake and mountains, you'll have floating swim docks at the water's edge, an incredible deck that wraps around the house, and a flat and expansive yard for lawn games (the only lakefront home on the lake's west side with a lawn). This three-story, lakefront home sits close to the midpoint of Wallowa Lake's western shore, about four miles south of downtown Joseph. It's the perfect setting for all of your outdoor adventures, whether you're kayaking, paddleboarding, or embarking on fishing excursions to catch your dinner. Hike a portion of the famous Wallowa River Loop Trail, take a ride on the Wallowa Lake Tramway, or spend a day at Wallowa Lake State Park, all within 10 miles. Come winter, head to Ferguson Ridge Ski Area only 14 miles east. A highlight of this home is the enormous deck overlooking the lake, where you can sit down for alfresco breakfasts and linger with your coffee in the gazebo. In the afternoons, host barbecues on the gas grill, relax to a serenade of bird song, and watch your kids play in the immense yard below. The interior is woodsy and welcoming, offering gorgeous views throughout and warm details of wood, brick, and stone. Stream movies beneath two-story ceilings in the window-lined great room, play afternoon card games with a view of the lake, and find every mealtime essential in the adjacent kitchen. After dinner each evening, head downstairs to play pool and watch movies in the rec room - which doubles as the fourth bedroom. There's also a primary suite on the main floor and two guest rooms and a dedicated workspace upstairs. House Rules The fireplace is not available for guest use. Check-in time: 4:00 PM. spacious rooms, clean, large kitchen
This is a great place to stay if you, like us, have a group of young adults in tow for your visit. The boys enjoyed the pool table, the internet was good, beds were comfortable & spread out. Areas available for privacy. On the water!
We have stayed at several places on the Lake Shore Drive, this was the darkest place we have rented and it wasn't our favorite. We ended up not staying there and staying with friends.
Cleaning person was still cleaning 20 minutes after check in. We had to wait longer, after that, so that the floors could dry. Large load of laundry left in the dryer for us to fold, rather than being folded and placed back in appropriate rooms. Although an apology via text from Vacasa was received, it did not change the fact we had to complete the prior guest's laundry. Beautiful home with amazing views. Beds very comfortable. Plenty of room throughout for large group. Although the kitchen was well stocked with eating dishes and utensils, it lacked appropriate cooking utensils and pots and pans for the number of guests allowed (8). Nice 4 slot toaster. Adequate counter space for preparing meals for 8. Also, only one extra indoor trash bag was provided for 8 people, staying 3 nights. I would recommend this home to others.
We enjoyed the home, although it could have been cleaner. The kitchen could use a complete set of silverware. It looked like it was stocked with the camper leftovers. Also we rented a house for 8 people for a week. I would think we wouldn’t have to worry about running out of toilet paper….. The dock was dangerous, my grandson slipped and his leg went between the two docks. A few scratches, but it could have been much worse. The docks need a spacer filler between the two of them. The trail approach to the dock was very dangerous. There was a big boulder rock that you had to crawl over. We love staying up there. But this home needs a few things to perk it up. Overall it’s a nice place. But for the price it could use some attention!
Great view with a quiet location on the lake.
