Overview
Modern Coastal Retreat
With a sleek, mid-century aesthetic not typically found at the beach, this beautiful home in a tranquil neighborhood of Manzanita will bring an enduring sense of calm to your next escape to the Northern Oregon Coast. Modeled after the renowned Coast Cabins, this home is owned by artists and musicians with long-standing ties to Manzanita, and it has been decorated with the artwork, books, and music that they themselves created or hold dear. So step inside and feel the love that has gone into every aspect of this home. The main living space is open, airy, and full of light, with windows that reach the ceiling and let in beautiful views of the surrounding evergreens. There are richly hued wood furnishings, accents, and cabinetry, as well as elegant, streamlined fixtures that contribute to the peaceful atmosphere. You can walk home from the beach to toss the day's swimsuits in the washer/dryer, and take a seat outside on the tree-lined patio that's warmed by a Rais fireplace. In the evening, bring a bottle of wine out to the elevated deck, prepare a homemade meal in the modern and well-appointed kitchenette (with a mini-fridge, a four-burner gas stove, a combination convection/microwave oven, and a dishwasher), and play your favorite soundtrack on the excellent stereo system. After dinner, you can curl up on the soft leather sofa and unwind with a favorite movie playing on cable, Netflix, or DVD/Blu-ray. What's nearby: This part of Manzanita, just up the hill from the beach, is delightfully quiet thanks to a general absence of car and foot traffic. It's beautifully wooded yet it also tends to be warmer and sunnier than the low-lying areas, which you'll still be able to reach on foot. The wide ocean beach is just over half a mile west, while Laneda Avenue - the town's main thoroughfare that's lined with charming eateries, shops, and galleries - is less than half a mile south. Things to know: High-speed WiFi Kitchenette with a mini-fridge, a four-burner gas stove, a combination convection/microwave oven, and a dishwasher The stereo system accepts CDs, Blu-rays, DVDs, and 1/8-inch input from phones or computers The fireplace is outside on the patio

The Modern Coastal Retreat (aka Artist Retreat) was amazing! The house is a bit of a walk from the beach, but it is nestled in a bunch of trees. It was very quiet and peaceful. The silver lining is that a walk to beach is an excuse to get some exercise. Btw, the inside is actually bigger than it seems from the pictures. And although the fridge seems small, it was big enough for us. (It is much bigger than a normal "college fridge.") It does not have a freezer though. The house is well-stocked and wonderfully furnished. (And I might add, includes some classy music and movies.) Overall, the place is a wonderful, peaceful retreat. Will absolutely rent there again.
There were plenty of towels, toiletries and supplies. Loved the washer/dryer and towel bar heater. Bed was comfortable.
This house is nicely appointed and pretty well stocked. The lack of a freezer is all I can find to complain about - I had to buy a bag of ice for my cooler after leaving Manzanita on my way home, because I had no way to re-freeze my ice packs. The house is a little ways from downtown and the beach, walkable but not close, but a quick drive. Furnishings are comfortable and the house is stylish.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood and a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed our stay. The house is a very simple design and very comfortable. The undercounter refrigerator has no freezer though, so don't plan to store frozen items.
Perfect place to relax! xo
The house was perfect for us and clean and as shown in the pictures except I think the outdoor stove was different. Beds were comfortable. The house is a 10-15 minute walk to the town center. Manzanita is lovely and less busy than Cannon Beach which we liked. When we stayed, there was a new house being built behind us - since we were out and about most of the day, this wasn’t too much of a noise issue. Would stay again if we ever come back to the area.
