Overview
Wild ocean beaches, awe-inspiring redwood trails, crabbing, fishing - it's all at your fingertips at this three-bedroom home on the banks of the Winchuck River in Brookings. Pick your own apples and lemons on the grounds, fish from the riverbank, and watch the water rise and fall with the tides.
This home is ideal for family gatherings, allowing you to row up the river or down to the beach, ride bikes into town on the nearby bike pass, or drive mere minutes to the harbor. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by lofty, exposed-beam ceilings, air conditioning to keep you cool in the summer, and an open kitchen and dining space for six. The living room features comfortable sofas, a large flatscreen TV, and sliding glass doors that connect to the riverfront deck.
It's in this wonderful outdoor space that you'll spend much of your time, barbecuing on the gas grill, dining at the picnic tables, admiring the night sky from the private hot tub, or roasting marshmallows around the firepit at the water's edge. After a day spent fishing or beachcombing, you can leave your clothes to spin in the washer/dryer and take your pick of three bedrooms. In addition to those three cozy bedrooms, there's an office with its own Murphy bed.

Beautiful view, great home, and perfect location! The only complaints would be the aggressive dogs across the river that kept barking at us. Also, we feel that expecting us to drag the garbage can down the driveway all the way to get picked up (and it was overflowing from the last tenants) is unrealistic. In the end, the garbage was overflowing and we had to take some with us so it wouldn’t be messy. We did enjoy our stay though! It is a pretty place.
Fantastic location, close to beach and the right on the river. So peaceful
Pros: Beautiful and quiet location with palm trees right on the river with a wonderful hot tub and bbq on deck overlooking the river. Lots of parking. Well stocked kitchen, alittle mismatched and older but sufficient. Grocery shopping not too far away. Home was very clean with enough bedding, pillows, towels etc. Furniture was nice quality. Main beds were very comfortable to sleep on. 2 indoor full bathrooms a plus and outside shower for precleaning from beach etc. Nice appliances such as washer/dryer, dishwasher and fridge. Lots of Counter and prep space in kitchen. BBQ was in great working order. Wonderful communication with Tamara was easy and delightful. Cons: A few sleeping areas are open at the ceiling to light and noise. A few old items in kitchen to use such as broken can openers. Limited plug-ins in bedrooms for electricity. Friendly black lab roaming the property the whole time we were there. Close proximity to smaller rented house on property (which was not a problem for us) but did limit visual privacy on deck in hot tub. Early checkout at 10am was alittle rough on our group. Overall we loved the location it`s self on the river with perks of deck, palm trees, BBQ and hot tub. Its a special location. We loved that we were so close to the Northern RedWoods, Pelican Beach and Brooking for shopping. We would definitely rent again.
This River House is an amazing place to gather your friends and family. We spent only a few days there on the Winchuck River and will never forget it. The pics of the river do not do it justice--what a beautiful place to watch the wildlife come and go. We saw many green herons, river otter, countless kingfishers as we sat on the bank or paddled the green waters. The house is big enough for two families to gather and share big meals. We loved the hot tub and the pet friendly vibe. The home is not luxurious but is a great value for its size and amenities. It`s a great platform for exploring the giant redwoods in jedidiah smith state park just 25 minutes south or heading up to Brookings to walk and dine on the warf or watch the sun set at the many parks and waysides. When we go back, we`ll be sure to sign up for deep sea fishing and hit all the hikes we missed this time around. The Southern Oregon coast is a unique climate and vibe--lots of friendly people and so much to explore!
