I love the hot tub in the kitchen, and we love the comfort of the living room and bedrooms

JUSTIN M2026-03-10

We arrived at the property at 7:30 p.m. were excited to use the hot tub but it was at 50° and on vacation mode. Going inside the house it was at 54° so we turned the electric heater on by using the digital panel on the wall like one would do to turn on the heat. After approximately 2 minutes the fire alarm went off and noticed a flame coming from the bottom of the electric heater. We shut the heater off immediately and opened the panel on the electric heater to see if it was possibly a gas heater with a pilot light. No such luck there were wires taped with masking tape and definitely was an electric heater. They're obviously had been a fire in that electric heater unit prior because there was black soot at the top of the heater. There is a wood stove there which the pipe that goes into the brick chimney also is covered with black suit. We went to get to dinner and try to find a new place to stay since that house was unsafe to stay in. We contacted vacasa and they passed it on to the local management team. We were able to find a new place to stay fortunately at 9:30 at night rhe owner cleaned their house for us and that place turned out to be great. I got a phone call from the local vacasa manager the following day which she had gone to check out the property and agreed to a full refund and was very apologetic. She stated they were shutting the property down until the heater could be fixed. Vacasas portion of the refund was credited to my card but waiting on vrbo to refund the portion i had to pay them. I guess I should have read all of the bad reviews on this place there were quite a few of them and some of them really recently last month somebody said they found dirty underwear on one of the beds and there were dirty socks in the beds that they stayed in that's just unacceptable and they should be embarrassed to even rent a place out that's in that kind of condition. I stayed there the beginning of March 2026 so if you rent this place anytime around that time frame definitely check out that furnace when you walk through the front door see if it's all black be careful turning the heater on. And good luck

We had a great time in the home and location but sadly we found dirty socks in our bed and really dirty underwear under our daughters guest bed which is what we had probably been smelling .. if those were cleaned up, I would probably stay again

Loved the hot tub. Funky old cottage. Sloping floors, erratic heating. Poor instructions regarding the keypad entry code. Good location.

We loved the hot tub and the neighborhood.

We had a great little visit for our family get together up the north coast and enjoyed our stay in the home. The tv is definitely outdated and needing to be replaced as it has an image that’s permanently burned into the screen. Heating is great but definitely keep the bedroom doors open during the day to keep them warm as well. There are either no vents in the bedrooms or extremely poor circulation. Made for a chilly night for our toddler and we had to get the slumber pod out. Not a great deal of excess bedding or blanket options either. Great little spot for a weekend getaway, just wish we had time for the hot tub!!!
