Overview
Tucked into the pines just a mile from Idyllwild's town center, Bear's Den is the kind of cabin that makes you slow down the second you walk in — knotty pine walls, high ceilings, and a wood-burning fireplace that turns any evening into a cozy one. Wander the wraparound deck with your coffee in the morning, or sit by the fire after a day on the trails. Past guests have called it their home away from home, a go-to for birthdays, girls' getaways, and family trips with the dog in tow.
It's also one of the few homes in our collection with no minimum-night restriction — so whether you're planning a full week in the mountains or just need one magical night away, Bear's Den can make it happen. That kind of flexibility, paired with real mountain-cabin character at a genuinely fair price, is hard to find in Idyllwild.
Please note: this home does not currently have a hot tub. We want you to know that before you book, not after you arrive.
Just outside, the town's eclectic shops, cozy cafes (Alpaca Coffee is a short stroll away), and the Rustic Theater are minutes from your door. Fill your days mountain biking, hiking the Mt. San Jacinto Summit Trail, or exploring the Idyllwild Nature Center — then come home to the fireplace and a hot meal. Lake Hemet's watersports are close by, and Hemet itself, with the interactive Fingerprints Youth Museum and the Western Science Center, makes for an easy 22-mile day trip.
A dedicated desk and chair make it easy to fit in a few hours of work if you need to, and Wi-Fi covers the whole home.
The kitchen is fully equipped for real cooking, not just reheating — stove top, oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, and coffee maker are all here, along with cookware and utensils. Gather at the dining table or take the meal out to the deck for mountain views.
Both bedrooms offer a king-size bed, dresser, and closet with hangers, so everyone gets real space to unpack. A futon and an additional mattress provide flexible extra sleeping for larger groups, bringing total capacity to 6 guests. A full bathroom with both a shower and a tub rounds out the home.
Traveling with a dog? Bear's Den is pet-friendly, and the fenced yard gives them room to roam safely. Please note that the backyard isn't directly accessible from inside the home — you'll reach it by walking out to the back deck and down a flight of stairs, or by heading around to the gate on the west side of the property. A washer and dryer are also on-site for longer stays.
Parking: Space for up to 3 standard cars in front of the home (comfortably fits 2). Street parking is not permitted.

Great little cabin while it is older it was very clean! It did have a washer dryer which was nice also they had make up wipes and hot cocoa which is great little touches! They also had pet linens for furry friends we had our service animals bed but it was definitely a nice touch! We would absolutely stay again!
An amazing, cozy getaway in the mountains. Watched movies by the fireplace, and enjoyed the hot tub on a cold night. Located less than 5 minutes from town and fun hikes, it was so convenient!
My wife and I booked this place for her birthday. This small cabin in Iddlywild is a perfect spot during cold December month. The warm Jacuzzi is the highlight of our stay, along with the clean and cozy bear theme cabin. It's definitely has its own mountain charm that captivate the city occupant. It makes us want to stay in the mountain side, and live a quiet cozy life. The place is charming, and has all the amenities that I needed to prepare a birthday meal for my wife. I can't wait to book this cabin again and have it part of our yearly tradition.
This place was lovely! Beds were very comfy, lovely neighborhood. The hot tub was awesome. Very clean. Some feedback for future guests because some of the reviews I read were outdated. As of Dec 2025 they do have a coffee maker and provide coffee and filters. The kitchen isnt super well-stocked in terms of equipment, but there are definitely pots/pans/knives/etc enough to make a nice meal. The space was very clean. It's not super bright with natural light in the interior or very large in the living room so I don't know if this would be a the best if I had little ones or larger parties. The hot tub is very clean, preheated, easy to use, but it is outside and down the patio stairs, so worth bringing flip flops or something. Hot tub towels were also provided. Overall this was a lovely stay. Cozy, great location to the town, easy to access, clean. Highly recommend!
