Overview
Step back in time and stay at Hidden Lodge — the iconic Idyllwild property where Elvis Presley
filmed scenes from the 1962 classic Kid Galahad, widely considered one of his finest
performances. That legendary front porch is still here, still standing, and now it's yours to enjoy.
More than 60 years of history, and all the mountain magic that comes with it.
The moment you arrive, you'll feel it. Pull up the wide driveway and the entire front of the lodge
comes into view — climb the broad steps to the grand double front doors and step onto the
covered front porch, lined with rustic log rocking chairs and framed by the towering pines of
Idyllwild. This is the very porch where scenes were filmed, where Elvis performed, where historywas made. Settle into a rocking chair, breathe in the mountain air, and let that sink in for a
moment. Right next to the front porch, the dining area's sliding glass doors open out to a stunning
screened-in porch with soaring wood-beam ceilings, comfortable lounge seating, and a pub table
— a magical in-between space that's open to the mountain air yet sheltered from the elements,
with its own raised wood floor and a true room-like feel.
Step inside and you're welcomed by a soaring open floor plan with dramatically high vaulted
ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and warm wood throughout — the kind of space that makes you
stop and look up the moment you walk in. The DVD player in the living room has Kid Galahad
loaded and ready to play as you arrive — because there's no better way to start your stay than
watching Elvis on screen in the very place he filmed it. The stunning rock fireplace anchors the
room with warmth and character, perfect for cool mountain evenings.
Just off the main living area, a gorgeous farmhouse dining table seats 12 beneath industrial-style
pendant lights — and right there on the wall behind it, the Kid Galahad tribute comes to life with
movie posters, photos, and memorabilia celebrating the film and the King himself. Then pull up a
stool at the incredible wood-paneled bar with retro teal barstools — one of the most unique and
fun features of this home, perfect for a nightcap or a morning coffee.
The lodge sleeps 10 comfortably across six bedrooms — a king master suite with its own private
bathroom, four queen beds, a fun queen-over-queen bunk bed, three twin beds, and a
twin-over-twin bunk — making this the ultimate mountain getaway for a group of friends or a big
family reunion. With two additional bathrooms, a game area stocked with board games, puzzles,
and its own TV, and a dedicated kids' room complete with toys and a charming little children's
picnic bench, there is truly something for everyone — from the littlest guests to the grown-ups who
never really stopped playing.
Outside, the expansive back patio is where the real gathering happens. Pull up a stool at the
eight-seat wooden bar, gather around the picnic table or dining table, then drift over to the
permanent porch swing and let the mountain quiet settle over you. Challenge the group to a round
of cornhole as the afternoon fades, and when the stars come out, sink into the private hot tub and
let the day melt away completely. It's the kind of backyard that keeps everyone outside long after
dinner is done.
Practical comforts are covered too — an additional full-size refrigerator and in-unit washer and
dryer make longer stays feel completely effortless. Just two miles down the road, the charming
village of Idyllwild awaits with eclectic shops, restaurants, live music, and that unmistakable artsy
mountain-town soul. For hikers, Humber Park is less than 1.5 miles away with breathtaking
wooded trails beneath towering pines and the dramatic face of Tahquitz Rock.
This isn't just a cabin. It's a piece of rock and roll history tucked into the San Jacinto mountains —
and it's waiting for you.

We loved all the open space and the six bedrooms. It easily fit seven adults and one dog. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could need.
Our family experience was great ! what I like the most about this house is the spacious living area. Kitchen is big enough us to hangout and cook together. Sleeping rooms are clean , A/C keeps the whole house so conmfortable perfect house for summer
This is a large home, well stocked, and with a great outdoor entertainment area. We had a great time celebrating a 50th birthday with a large group. Bedrooms are spacious and well equipped. And as a kicker, it appears that Elvis filmed part of "King Galahad" out front and on the porch. While we didn't know the Elvis part before the trip, we would highly recommend this home in Idyllwild.
this house is by far the best one we have stayed at. it was perfect for our large family and really felt like a home. there are so many amazing amenities and the history of the house of it is a plus. this trip and the house was one for the books !
This house is huge and has lots of luxurious details including a beautiful kitchen, lovely backyard and several places to lounge and gather. They even have a little area set up for children—my toddler squealed with delight when she saw it. A special area just for her! The house is thoughtfully set up for guests and has a unique history that’s highlighted in the decor. Very well done.
