Rating
Unit B19 is a large, spacious unit - perfect for 4-6 people. With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, a cozy living room and an expansive dining room table, there is enough room for everyone. Two upstairs bedrooms (one with king bed, one with 2 twin beds) have en suite bathrooms, but the ground floor bedroom (queen bed) does not. The unit is two-stories, with the first floor patio door opening to the grounds and the river. The refrigerator, the dishwasher, and the oven were all clean. We could have used a bit more dishwasher soap and toilet paper, but overall, the amenities (towels, soaps, paper towels, laundry soap, etc.) were sufficient. All that being said, the unit is woefully in need of updating, a deep cleaning, and some serious maintenance. The carpets and throw rugs should all be steam-cleaned or replaced. There is an old, plastic, carpet runner on the stairs, which is a slipping/tripping hazard. The furniture is dated, and the upholstery and pillows are all in need of cleaning. The mirrors are foggy and the corners of some walls have been rubbed off down to the metal corners. The kitchen lacks serving platters for those who stay-in and cook, and many of the the dishes are chipped. The cookware is scratched and and the cookware, utensils, and glassware all appear to have come from the thrift store in downtown McCall. The kitchen shelving is lined with rubber, which no longer lies flat and is, itself, in need of cleaning. Bi-fold doors are cumbersome and don’t function well. It is unclear if the bedspreads and blankets have been cleaned between reservations. Our feeling is probably not. They are folded/stuffed into drawers and atop shelves in the bedrooms, without any type of packaging indicating that they are clean. The 2 twin beds upstairs creak whenever there is movement on them, creating a noisy night for those who sleep in that room. (During our visit, we shifted the twin beds and found food, used tissues, and a lipstick under a bed, so we vacuumed and dusted the room before it was used.) The shower in that room has mildew in it and could use a deep cleaning. Plenty of firewood was provided, but no kindling, and no axe or hatchet was available to make use of the wood to start a fire. There is a long, hanging wire outside the living room window, which gives the unit a falling-apart feeling. The front-door code provided in the arrival information was incorrect. Our entry was delayed for 10-15 minutes while we waited outside in the cold. Finally we were able to open the lock-box to obtain a key for manual entry. The cleaning issues are not housekeeping issues, they are issues with the property management company, which does not provide enough time between reservations to properly clean and maintain the unit. Unit B19 appears to be a full-time short-term rental unit that rakes in a lot of money without returning much back into the care and maintenance of the unit. We don't think the value matched the price.
We loved listening to the river rapids from the unit and the pool-very relaxing and peaceful. Rivers Bend Condos are well designed and maintained. Great location on the river and only a short walk from a public beach on the lake, Shore Lodge and a breakfast/lunch cafe. The unit is very well supplied and can easily accommodate 6 people.
Very nice setting. Home is dated, but comforable and clean
Great scenery outback
