Charming cottage, walk to Gulf with shared pools, hot tub, & central AC

I will share the bad and frustrating things first. Upon arrival, we had difficulty getting into the home as the code that was provided was wrong. Everytime we returned to the plantation it was frustrating as the management company did not provide our name to the gentleman at the gate. Some of the dishes were dirty. The only frying pan was left with dried egg on it and the plastic cups in the cabinet were also dirty. The A/C went out the day before we were supposed to leave. The day was so hot and it was miserable not to mention no one slept that night. Now the good stuff. The home itself is very nice. We had 7 people in our group and it was very relaxing. We loved the enclosed back porch. The short walk to the beach was fabulous and the beach itself was beautiful. It was not crowded and we met alot of nice people. The pool was also just a short walk. The restaurants were good. The Blue Parrot did not disappoint! When it rains the island does flood. Overall, our vacation was great but could have been fabulous.

Wonderful place to stay.

Lovely comfortable home with nice furniture and beds, GREAT porch, easy beach access. Nice community; enjoyed the pool and tennis courts. Not 5 stars given broken toilet, and lack of basic kitchen amenities with sub-par cookware. Also note, no beach accessories available.

Easy walk to beach! Needs several maintenance items addressed and a few more updates.

We have been renting homes several times a year on SGI for 30 years, and this was probably our least favorite home we have rented. I will start with the positives…great screened porch with very comfortable outdoor furniture. Was wonderful for the rainy days we had on our trip. The air conditioning also performed well and was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately for us, that’s where the positives ended. The beds were very firm but fairly comfortable. The home sleeps 7 but there were only 6 plates/bowls in the house. Even for our family of four, we had to run a half full dishwasher after each meal to have dishes for the next meal. The kitchen was one of the least stocked I’ve ever seen in a rental home. There was one large stockpot and a small saucepan, a cast iron skillet and one 8-10 inch skillet, a few cookie sheets/pizza pans. If you cook a lot on your vacation, you will be frustrated trying to make a meal. There are also no serving pieces. We struggled with connecting to wifi upon arrival due to the information provided to us being incorrect. Our request for help was returned after two days. We, fortunately, were able to troubleshoot ourselves and figured out the issue. Having been in the real estate business for decades, the remodel of the home was not done well….loose floor tiles, broken tiles, sloppy paint. Many bandaid fixes. The “master” has a king bed and you have to scoot sideways across the front to keep from knocking the tv off the wall. There was no place to put luggage because the closet had a bookcase with games in it, making it overall just a very tight space. The three secondary bedrooms had more space and felt more roomy. The deck lounge chairs were broken in places (we tore a beach towel) and the deck itself felt “spongy” in areas. Overall we made the best of a much needed beach trip and had a great time but I wish I could have had some of this information before booking.
