First and foremost, the location was amazing, which made us hopeful about the stay. However, the condition of the home and the experience overall were very disappointing. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was a rat trap at the front door, which was unsettling. The front porch was dirty and the Adirondack chairs were not clean. Inside, the home looked cute at first glance, but small details quickly added up. The upstairs sofa had a poorly fitted cover that looked cheap, and the overall appearance didn’t match the photos online. The kitchenware was outdated—dishes were chipped, and the glassware was cloudy and really needs replacing. There were also no clear instructions for beach access, which was frustrating. We eventually had to ask a neighbor for help (for future renters: walk to the main street, cross over, head right about two houses down, and there’s a white gate on the left that leads to the beach). The most concerning issue was pests inside the walls. The first two nights I dismissed strange noises, but by the third night my husband and I were woken up by what sounded like a rat trying to chew through the walls. When I reached out to management, they said someone would come the next day between 4:00–5:30, but luckily pest control came earlier and we happened to be home. The technician immediately told us this was an ongoing problem—he had informed the owners two months prior about squirrels in the walls and even showed us the entry hole. While we stood outside, a squirrel actually poked its head out of the house. When I raised this with the property manager/owner, she dismissed my concerns, saying she had “just taken over the property.” That felt like an excuse rather than accountability, especially knowing the issue had been identified long before. I have been renting on 30A for spring and fall breaks for about ten years, and unfortunately, this was by far my worst experience. The management was unhelpful, the property did not match its listing, and the pest issue made our stay uncomfortable. I would not rent here again.
This home is beautiful with comfortable beds.
