Love the location, this was our 2nd stay at Boardwalk this summer. One of our favorite places to stay
So close to beach. Easy check in. Loved the restaurant being right there. Clean house. Great views from the balcony. Would come back and stay again.
I would be very hesitant to book a room at the Boardwalk 283 ever again. The ac was a problem the ENTIRE time. Someone came out to look at it and she tried to fix it and told me to reach back out if it wasn't fixed. Well, it wasn't fixed but the girl wouldn't respond to my follow-up texts. I was ignored.
Upon check-in the kitchen light would turn on and off (it would stay on if you applied pressure to the switch). Also, when plugging a charger into the 2nd bedroom outlet, a huge spark shot out. When we went to shower there was no hot water. We called the support number listed on the check in paperwork and were on hold "awaiting to be connected" for over an hour. We also sent an urgent text message as by this point flames started coming out of the water heater. We were unable to locate a breaker panel to turn off the breaker to the water heater. We also searched closets and cabinets for a fire extinguisher while trying to blow out the electrical flames and one of us rushed down to the security guard to alert him to call the Fire department. The security guard was able to locate the breaker panel (behind a painting on the wall) and shut the power to the unit off. All this time, my husband's phone was STILL awaiting Vacasa to answer. The Security guard called several numbers (including the owner) and finally reached a local Vacasa rep. He asked if he should call the fire department and was told since the flames were now out; that he should not. He was also told (and relayed to us) "that the water heater was to have been replaced today"; which was the 2nd day of our 3-day stay! WHY would they rent to us if they knew the hot water heater was not working; and not mention it was being replaced (which it wasn't, in the middle of our stay)! The check-in paperwork includes details about having to take sheets off beds and carry out your trash, but nothing on safety like where to locate the fire extinguisher or braker panel. It is also concerning that the smoke alarm never went off. We put it out relatively quickly, but there was a good amount of smoke. We mentioned having it checked to Vacasa, but never received an acknowledgement. In addition to our serious issue, feedback from October of last year (found in an online review) still hadn't been addressed. For example, the coating on the shower walls is peeling off (looks terrible and not sure it's health to have it flaking off). There was an extra pillow in the 2nd bedroom; however, to linens to go on it. The 2nd bed was very hard and would "crinkle" when you would move on it it. Also, during our ordeal with the water heater we noticed the furnace (located in the same closet) was terribly filthy and the filter was next to it, rather than in it. This unit is in a great location; but I would NOT recommend it. I don't feel it's safe and the owners & Vacasa should not have been allowed to rent it with a known issue with the water heater. As for Vacasa; I would not rent through them again. Not having an emergency number that will be answered is not acceptable. They offered to re-locate us and said the new unit was more $ but they had manager approval to cover it; we verified it was actually LESS per night and had to request a refund. Not trustworthy!
