Mendocino Getaway - Ocean Views & Family Fun

Our recent stay in the Mendocino cottage had several positives along with some areas that would benefit from updates. What we appreciated: Easy check-in and check-out process Responsive host when concerns were raised Beautiful ocean view Convenient location right off the main road, providing easy access to Mendocino The stove appeared to be new What could be improved: The shower height is not ideal for anyone over 5’6”, making it uncomfortable to use There are no interior doors separating living areas (only the bathroom has a door), which impacted privacy and noise. For example, during a morning conference call, light and sound woke my husband who was trying to rest No cell phone service at the property (texting and Wi-Fi were ok, but calls could not be placed or received) The broiler did not work—on a rainy day we had planned a steak and wine evening but ended up having pizza and beer instead No wine opener provided Bring your own basic cooking amenities (oil, salt, etc.) While the owner may not have personally stayed at the property, I hope this feedback is helpful. Adding interior doors and reviewing kitchen utilities would significantly improve guest experience. The setting is beautiful and has a lot of potentia.

This cottage is in the perfect spot. Close to town, great filtered views of the ocean, very quiet and beautiful gardens surround the cottage.

The home is very cozy and exceptionally clean! The view from the porch is fabulous! The bed was VERY COMFORTABLE! The location is convenient and easy to go visit downtown Mendocino, Fort Bragg, we even went to Elk. Thank you, the place is wonderful!!

If you're looking for a cozy spot close to downtown Mendocino with easy access to the coast, this cottage is in a great location. It’s just minutes from town and right on the edge of the ocean, which makes for a beautiful and peaceful setting. That said, guests with mold sensitivities or autoimmune concerns may want to proceed with caution. The coastal climate has taken its toll on the property, and there was a noticeable mustiness upon arrival that required some airing out. We also noticed some residual moisture issues around the windows typical of oceanfront properties. Additionally, while the space was generally clean, we did come across a few unexpected visitors in the form of spiders, which can be common in this area. A heads up if that’s something you’re sensitive to. Overall, the location and setting are hard to beat, and with a few maintenance updates, this could be an ideal stay for many travelers.
