The St. Maarten 1106 - Eleventh Heaven

Unit 1106 at the St. Maarten is a lovely location. The views from the balcony were spectacular along with the views of the Halifax River as you enter. Enjoyed the pools and hot tubs - was nice having one of the pools and hot tubs indoors when cold out. Did not use the fitness room or sauna, but did enjoy the shuffle board (there are also two pool tables). Maria and other St. Maarten staff were friendly and very accommodating if you needed any help. All-in-all, was a pleasurable stay. Also, want to say how pleased we were with Vacasa - they were excellent to deal with - would definitely use again and recommend to friends and family.

The location. building amenities and beach access are great! The condo has a lot of space so we were not on top of each other but some of the condo amenities are a little worn. I would rent this condo again.

My husband and I (age 81 and 79) are retired, living on a fixed income. We saved in order to treat ourselves to a beachside rental for my birthday. The pictures showed a semi-circular balcony with table, four chairs and a small electric grill. We rented with the intention to spend many hours on the balcony enjoying the view, having meals or a glass of wine as the sun went down. (None of the items shown in the picture were on the balcony. Instead, it was a jumble of chairs, etc.) We arrived to find that the balcony doors/windows were covered with blue plastic hampering any view. There were also ropes hanging in front of the balcony to raise and lower the scaffolding, so the ocean facing side of the building could be repainted. On our second morning in the unit, a woman came to our door and told us that all the balcony furniture would need to be moved inside, leaving the balcony empty and our livingroom overflowing with various chairs/couches. We found out shortly afterward that the railing was being replaced. Once the railing was removed, the doors were blocked for safety to prevent access. They were still working on the balcony three weeks later, as we packed to return home. In addition to being unable to use the balcony, the rental was in disrepair: all four tv's were not working when we arrived; the master bath toilet whined when flushed; the jacuzzi feature of the masterbath tub did not work; two of the four bathroom fans did not operate; the kitchen faucet was plumbed backwards; the bedroom carpeting as well as the area rugs in the diningroom and livingroom needed shampooing; the bathroom throw rugs were coming apart and needed replacement. This condo was well laid out and could have been a gem, if cared for. In all fairness to Vacasa, the local representative called in a plumber to fix the toilet, got three of the four tv's working and ordered a new cable box for the forth. He attempted to do what he could, as well as getting a partial refund for the inconvenience. The fact that we were uninformed about the painting and replacement of the railings fell through the cracks. The St. Maarten office told me it was up to our rental agency. Vacasa said they hadn't been informed by the condo HOA. This, and the overall condition of the unit, does not speak well of VRBO or Vacasa.

I love the view and the location of this home. Unfortunately the jacuzzi tub was broken on the master bathroom and never got fix. Staff were very friendly but the home was very dirty when we received with a lot of dust, hair and mold in some parts. Amo la vista y la locación de esta casa.
