SO02 Happy Ours

This house was great for our 4 kids who all got their own room! The beds were comfortable enough. The pool was a good size and allowed for fun family time. Distance to the beach was great but a bit of a hike to the actual ocean. (To be expected in OBX) The A/C was perfection! The kitchen was lacking a few things but we made it work. The house could use some touch ups and updating but all in all we had an amazing time! We loved being able to have our dogs with us!

Had a blast on our family beach trip. The house fit all of us comfortably. The pool was the perfect size. And the walk to the beach was short.

I wanted to love this home. However, my concerns came weeks before my arrival when the last few reviews left on regards to the property were less than stellar. I contacted Vacasa regarding my concerns prior to my arrival. I was hoping to switch the home, since a roach/Waterbury infestation was being noted. They said that because the home wasn't considered uninhabitable, I wouldn't be able to switch. Upon my arrival, I could see why there were roaches.... But first the positives: The pool was the cleanest part of the home! And it was lovely! The bed sheets and bathrooms were clean. There is plenty of space for you to be together as a family but then also have quiet separate time. Now the rest... The home is old. Cool... but just because a home is old, doesn't mean it shouldn't be well maintained. The screens are ripped, the walls/baseboards are gross. The sofa... let's just say i bought cheap blankets from the local Dollar General because we refused to sit on it. It needs a deep shampoo cleaning. The stove... so gross and outdated. Who is still using electric coil stoves? The trays for the burners were black with sut. One of them is broken and bent. There is no exhaust system. Is that even up to code? The outdoor furniture could all use a power wash. The grill that is there is a charcoal grill so small that you can only cook maybe 3 hamburgers on it at a time? A home with 5 bedrooms that has a 10 person occupancy... does it make any sense to have a grill that small? The dining rooms chairs are uncomfortable. The pots and pans... well saute pans, we bought our own from the dollar general because the ones in the home were so rusted and gross. There were a couple of sauce pans that were usable. Oh, and upon our arrival the previous guest swim trunks were just chilling on the deck. Vacasa offered to "take care" of some of the items during our stay... but why interupt my vacation to do, what should of been done prior to my arrival. To be fair, I am not blaming Vacasa. I am really disappointed in the owner of this home. It is obvious they have no pride in the home whatsoever. And as for the roaches/waterbugs... thankfully they didn't start showing up until the day of check out. But they are huge and GROSS! I vacation, AirBnB and vacation home A LOT! I have never been so disappointed in a home and I feel as if I lost money on this stay. Who wants to spend thousands of dollars to stay in a home that is dirty and not well maintained! I am not happy... we made the best of it. Again the pool was the star... I guess that is what I paid my money for.

The house was comfortable and well stocked. We loved the pool.

Was very disappointed in this property. The couch was dirty. Beds were uncomfortable. Cookware was rusted. The worst was the bugs. 🪳

This house has a cockroach infestation, poor management, and a dangerous electrical issue on the deck that someone put a note warning of electrical shocking.
