HABM11 Camp Tahuna #11-H is described as a lovely, quiet marina house with a fun local character that works well for relaxing getaways and fishing trips. Guests found it comfortable, with great air conditioning, comfortable beds, good showers, and spaces that worked well for gathering, cooking, dining, and unwinding. The home was noted as clean and ready for arrival, with rooms that suited guests' needs and a welcoming bar area that added to the experience. Its location in Hatteras Village offers convenient access to docks, fishing, nearby restaurants, a corner market, grocery options, and the beach. The porch and dockside setting stood out for exceptional sunset views and an enjoyable waterfront atmosphere. Guests also appreciated amenities such as the grill, dock access, and wifi.

Overview

Very cool, waterfront Camp Tahuna calls from its oceanside location! This easily accessible, single-story home has been remodeled in a saltwater sportsman's theme and lies center stage along the Hatteras village waterfront. In fact, should you want to bring a boat, a deep water boat slip is available for an additional charge. The property has a picnic table to enjoy your daily catches and a large, covered entrance porch offers unforgettable sunsets. The entry has a convenient washer dryer corner. The combination living, kitchen, and dining areas are perfect for intimate dining or entertaining. The kitchen has Corian and butcher block counters and the necessary appliances. Rich hardwood floors and pine walls are decorated with fishing trophies. A one-of-a-kind, half-size stern of a sportfishing boat has been made into the best bar on the island. Comfortable leather furniture complete the living area with a large flatscreen TV.

The first and second bedrooms both have twin-over-double bunk beds. A full hall bath with a shower/tub combo is conveniently close to both bedrooms. The third bedroom has a twin-over-double bunk and a full bath with a soaking shower/tub combo. The beach access is just a short drive away. Bring bikes and a golf cart, because Hatteras Village is golf cart and pedestrian-friendly. (Visit AS Austin for your beach gear, kayak, and golf cart rentals, and mention Camp Tahuna to receive a small discount!) Fresh fish and shrimp are available in season almost next door. Top of the line restaurants and shopping are just around the corner. The slip is just doors down from Oden's Dock which leads out to Hatteras Inlet. You can't beat this Hatteras Village location!

The rental of this unit does NOT include access to the Marlin Club; it only includes access to the Club Hatteras pool in Avon.

If you’re looking for a Hatteras rental with a boat slip (additional cost, comparable to marinas) for an fishing trip and don’t mind roughing it, this house is in a great location on the island. For a family vacation, look elsewhere. Upon our arrival, the oven and two of the eyes on the stove didn’t work. Vacasa was able to get this replaced several days later. There are numerous things that still need attention: roof leaks into the kitchen during heavy rain, dishwasher doesn’t clean on the top rack, the dryer requires running the hottest and longest cycle twice to get clothes mostly dry, and no window covering in the second bathroom. Also beware that the business next door and the dive boat that shares a driveway/yard with this house start working very early…make sure you plan on being early risers. Also, why would you have 9 beds (3 of which are doubles) and cap the rental at 6 people? Doesn’t make sense! We always love our stays on Hatteras and will continue to return but definitely not to this property.

Great marina house! Loved the local vibe to it. Loved it all together! I’ve been coming here for 30yrs, this house gave me my all time BEST sunset views, from the porch, ever seen!!!! Great house! I can’t lie though, waking up with a boat in the living room def gave it a comical twist of “did I drink last night? Where am I?” …. We all had that hilarious moment! GREAT HOUSE! The boat was the bar/island in the house! Loved it! ❤️❤️❤️. As always house service was fabulous!

Smells like mildew, roof leaks, high people, vehicle and animal traffic area. Since we got home, we found it’s advertised as a dive shop on Google. Person walked into the rental on one occasion while others peeked through the windows on another occasion. Very unnerving to say the least. The property is also for sale so people were coming by checking it out as well. Complained to Vacasa on several occasions. The mildew smell was addressed as a cleaning issue and I was discounted $137, the cleaning fee. No filter in the HVAC system and mildew in the light fixtures which points to a maintenance issue. The smell never cleared. One burner on the stove worked. No WiFi. Then the roof leaked. We reported and escalated the issue but have yet to hear back from the local management team. I feel a further discount should be given due to the experience and this place is not as advertised. Very subpar...not worth the money we paid.
