People were friendly and helpful. A really nice area!

We got there a few weeks after hurricane Erin. The area is being damaged from storms and the local beach is unusable. The roof leaked downstairs during a bad storm. The main street flooded with 2 feet of water. It's a shame because you can tell it used to be a paradise. We made the short trip to the point for all of our beach and fishing needs and enjoyed all the local dining. Even with all the troubles we plan to return next year and hope they get the area cleaned up.

While the house is dated, it met our needs. There are two sets of stairs to enter the house. Both sets of stairs are about 17 steps each and are both wobbly. It’s seems that they need to be secured or replaced. 17 steps can be challenging for older members of the family in the summer heat. My BIG complaint is with Vacasa. We arrived on Saturday and immediately realized that the dishwasher was not working. I called it in to Vacasa on Saturday and was told that it was recorded and would be addressed. I called again on Sunday and was told that a service tech would be contacting me. I called them again at 4:00 and they told me the service tech would call me. He finally called at 5:00 and tried to talk me thru fixing it myself (like I’ve never used a DW). He finally agreed to come and look at around 5:30. After trying to fix it and several calls to Vacasa, he said that it would have to be replaced and I would get a call on Monday. I heard nothing. I called them again on Tuesday and told them again…after waiting on hold for 15 minutes for them to investigate the issue, I was told that the issue had been escalated and I would hear from Manteo Appliance the following day. Needless to say, I did not hear from the the rest of the week. A week doing dishes by hand while on vacation. I am very disappointed in Vacasa. We had used Hattera Realty in the past and never had an issue. I advise everyone to avoid the rental company. There are many others to choose from.

Great house. Wonderful views from large upper deck and screened porch with hammock was great. Will stay at this house again.

Location was great

The property is certainly dated in a lot of respects but in terms of location to the beach, restaurants and tackle shops etc. it is quite convenient. I’m not sure the listing of the amount of bedrooms is correct as it is listed to sleep 8 but the house only has 3 beds and a bunk bed upstairs. We had five grown men there and the top bunk bed upstairs was unacceptable to sleep on so I was relegated to the couch. But the weather was fantastic and the house had all the other amenities one would need away from home.
