NTB4366 Day at the Beach Ocean Ridge

Great space for a few families to stay!

Over all a Great week. Lots of space, very close to the ocean, with a nicely furnished covered deck and hot tub. Could you a few updates @ the hot water and ants, but over all a very nice week and we would definitely consider staying here ahain

Topsail is gorgeous and you can not beat the location on the island or the view.

Our family was so excited when we booked our stay. The description and photos seemed to be ideal as we have been coming to Topsail for many years. The excitement faded rapidly once we arrived. The door to get into the house was open. The door to the back deck would not lock. My husband changed out the lock from the 2nd floor front to the back just to lock the door. The lock on the ground level at the back also would not lock. We walked in immediately to a musty smell. We walked up the carpeted stairs to the 1st floor to find sand on the floors and the same furniture from 2017 Beach Hunters edition. The floors had paint that had not been bothered to be removed. The furniture in the living room was extremely dirty and worn. There were crackers under the cushions which we vacuumed up. The “6th” bedroom, was NOT a bedroom at all, but an extension of the living room that should have been labeled as an office or such with a pull out sofa. That “6th” bedroom had glass panes doors to which we had to place a blanket over and blankets at the bottom as a noise barrier. The ceiling in the living room has paint peeling and drywall seems popping. The “community” pool is 21’x41.’ The pool is 1/2 mile from the rental and serves 48 houses. All I could do at this point was cry. On night one, the full bed in the wood colored bunk room, fell on the floor with a person on it. The bed had been repaired previously with a single deck screw. Once again, my husband fixed said bed. I message Vacasa initially when entering the house. I messaged again when the bed fell. The response was less than expected, nor professional. On night 4 it rained rather hard. The ceiling in the dining area was leaking. The drywall was soft and wet. I again let Vacasa know. The response was, “we cannot do anything about the rain.” I realize that, but just wanted you to know the drywall in the ceiling was wet. On day 5, I asked if the water in the hot tub was supposed to be green. I was asked to send a picture. I did. The hot tub service company was there soon thereafter. Mind you, the youngest person in our group was 17. No children were urinating in the hot tub. Chlorine did not even register when testing. On Friday, the day before leaving, I received a message asking what needed to be fixed…. Really?! When renting a house for our family vacation, we expect to get what we pay for…. This home, the rental company, Vacasa, and the owners are neglectful in keeping the house in good condition. The house needs updated furniture, the floors sanded, the walls painted, etc. Basic maintenance would be essential for all rental properties. It appears the owners are merely paying a mortgage and not putting any money back into the property.

Great location very close to the beach.

This home provided wonderful access to the beach. That is where the wonderfulness stopped. The properly is outdated, filled with misinformation about the community and rules. The living room ceiling is in disrepair causing concern and it was not very clean. The lack of attention to detail did not match the quality I would expect in comparison to the price I paid to stay here.
