PKBR03 Ocean Escape

The vacation home accommodated our family well. It has all the basics, a short walk to the beach and the layout was perfect for 10 people.

We were very unsatisfied with this house. Check-in was delayed an hour due to cleaning but the cleaning was very insufficient. 1. Shower drain in primary bath full of hair and doesn’t drain 2. Shower floor in primary bath slick from slimy soap scum 3. Dirty dishes in cabinets 4. Ice maker doesn’t dispense 5. White dog hair everywhere especially stairs 6. Primary bedroom sheets do not smell clean 7. Dishwasher does not clean dishes 8. Third floor bathroom drain full of hair and does not drain 9. Balls of human hair in primary bathroom 10. Sand all over floor 11. Trash under bunk beds 12. No beach towels 13. Stove range panel dirty with food and crumbs 14. No soap in downstairs bathroom 15. Vent in third floor bathroom covered in black mold This is second property we’ve rented from Vacasa. Never again!!

We’ve stayed all over the island over the years, this house compares favorably to many at higher price points. A few little things keep it from perfection but it’s a great stay that we would do again. Location: Handy, easy beach access as stated Home: spacious. Could use a few more kitchen dishes but the appliances are all very nice and cooking there is easy. The elevator was a must since we have a limited mobility family member and it was great. Overall everything we cared about was as it should be, the home was clean, quiet and in a great spot.

The house was as described and very quiet.. Very convenient to beach and the community pool.

The house was beautiful and the beach was super close. It was an easy walk even with two toddlers. The community pool was nice too! We were initially staying in the Atlantic Beach area but had to move to Ocean Escape in Pine Knoll Shores after a storm. Sandy from Vacasa was super helpful and made the transition very smooth. The customer service was top notch!

Overall we enjoyed the home! It was very clean and spacious. There was plenty of storage space for anything and everything, especially in the kitchen and the master bathroom. The kitchen appliances were great, never had a problem. The ice maker in the kitchen was a great thing to have to keep our small coolers filled for beach trips. The kids enjoyed the giant bathtub in the master bathroom. The elevator was awesome! We weren't expecting to have one, and it was great to have to haul all of our luggage to the 2nd and 3rd levels. Although, not used, the small living area on the 1st level was very nice and cute. It was also nice to have 2 garages. The outside shower and hose was nice to have to wash the sand off from the beach. We also appreciated the supplied linens and towels. It is nice to not have to pack those items. They were very clean. Also, appreciated the toiletries that were provided. Also, the pool was nice. We enjoyed it. A few cons - One, having a door that leads to the balcony, from the kids room, is a concern. We actually made our own way to lock it from the outside so the kids could not have access to the balcony. Second, maybe a gate at the top of the stairs on the 3rd level, since the kids room leads right out to the top of the stairs. Third, if you can, have a few board or card games available in a storage cabinet or on the shelf in the living room for families to enjoy on rainy days. Fourth, our garbage was not picked up on the days that it said that it would be. Therefore, on check out day, the cans were overflowing and contained water bugs that were getting all over the garage floor. All in all, we loved the house and would recommend it to anyone wanting to vacation in the area. It was close to the beach and the walk was short. The neighborhood was also great. No complaints at all. It was nice and quiet.
