Pine Island is such a fantastic secret vacation destination. This house is located just outside the gates of a public beach. I could cook our family meals while watching dolphins from the dining room window. Our teens could walk from the house to the beach and back all day long. They also enjoyed walking the parameter of the island beach looking for crabs and horseshoe crabs and watching dolphins. It really feels like a private island resort. The house itself has comfortable couches and beds, so everyone loved relaxing and napping between swims. My advice is to bring your groceries with you to the house, because once you are on the island, you will not want to leave lol.
This house has beautiful views, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and is so close to Pine Island State Park, you can just walk to the park! The Bayport Inn Restaurant offers amazing seafood too. Weeki Wachi, kayaking, paddle boarding, groceries, and shops are a 20 minute drive or less. Definitely check out SUP Weeki for paddle boarding. The staff there are amazing and we even had dolphins swimming next to us while paddle boarding! Half of our group flew and half drove to Pine Island. There were 11 of us total staying in the house. Unfortunately, many of the issues in the previous reviews are still there as of today. The screen on the screened porch is coming down in one of the corners. The master bathroom left sink is still spraying guests during use and the right side is leaking into a drawer under the sink causing water damage. If not fixed, it will lead to significant damage to the vanity. There was significant mold growing on the hood vents above the stove. We took the vents out in order to use the stove during our stay. All of these things have been reported so hoping that they are fixed by the arrival of the next guest. We went without A/C for one night of our stay. Andrew from Vacasa did have a service team out to fix it the next day and we were cool and comfortable the rest of the week. Thanks, Andrew! If you are renting this house, just plan ahead. Bring towels and sheets just in case. The kitchen does have your basic cooking-ware, dishes. You may have to get laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dishwasher pods while you are there. They gave us enough for the first couple of days. Towels were not clean when we arrived but we washed them and used them. Sheets were not clean either, we used our own that we brought just in case. Helpful tips: Trash pickup days are Tuesdays and Fridays. The state park is so close..we walked to it with our kids but if you decide to take your car it’s card only to pay to park. Concessions are cash only. We did have a great time, despite the issues with the house. If you plan ahead, you can too! Hopefully, they will have the issues fixed soon (the water leak and mold) or possibly wave the cleaning fee to compensate. They are informed of the problems though.
Our family loved the location and bay views. Other than that, this rental has issues. Half the appliances don’t work, no towels are included (despite it being on the listing), and the local team is useless/nonexistent. We were fortunate that local family brought us bath towels and kitchen towels or we wouldn’t have been able to shower or do dishes. The washing machine was broken too, which led to me washing clothes in the sink for my toddler. The worst part is that my husband did some research and found a review from March that listed all of these problems, so the team did know about them. I only wish that we had seen the review before we got there. Be warned! The local team will not respond to you, so you are on your own.
The view was out of this with nature.and sunset was amazing.
Pine Island is a quiet dream. You can’t beat the waterfront and Ocean view from the home. Brand, new kitchen and the screen and patio is awesome for eating outside. Loved our stay!
Nice views out the windows of the marshes and the gulf sunsets; BUT Vacasa put it in writing that they would supply enough plates, towels and washcloths for the five of us, that there would be a working dishwasher, washing machine and wash soap provided. There were not - unless you count the laundry room cabinet that was locked. If you pulled on its doors, you could see inside various cleaning supplies but could not reach them. There were no hangers in any closets nor dressers to put our clothes in, nor towel rods. I had to wash some of my clothes in the bathroom sink because I only had a carry-on sized suitcase and was counting on washing clothes in the washing machine before I met my work colleague for the first time in person. The kitchen faucet water pressure was incredibly weak so washing dishes by hand was a no-go. There was pre-existing damage done to the fridge door, a stained cushioned on the screened-in porch which had no drain, and a ceiling light in the front bedroom dangling by its wires. None of the remotes turned off the back bedroom ceiling fan. I contacted Vacasa via text and phone 4 or 5 times during my trip. A new rep spoke to me each time, and even within the same texting session, asked me for my name and callback number multiple times. They texted, Please be patient, while they wait for local property management to respond. After my trip, I called Vacasa customer service to request some money back and of course, it was kick the can down the road again. Their excuse has been they cannot get in touch with the local property management or local owner.
