Rating
We were a ladies' group of 5 women from different parts of the country getting together for our annual Girls' Trip. Here is a review taken from us as a group: 10/10 for the location, views and convenience to the beach. It is a roomy, wonderful house with stunning views. The house is in a gated community which is lush and beautiful. There is a pond in the back yard and a great deck on the back of the house. The house is about a mile from the beach with a shaded path to follow. The kitchen was well appointed and great for a large group. We thoroughly enjoyed the game room where we played games every night! Bathrooms were also well appointed with plenty of towels, shampoo and conditioner and hand soap provided. Bedrooms: guests should know the first floor tv room is not really a fifth bedroom. It's got a twin daybed with trundle, accordion doors and little privacy with no closet. Terrible lighting as well, with no mirror. Kudos to management company for bringing brighter light bulbs the morning after we arrived. There is a full bath next door but terrible lighting in there, too, and just a pedastal sink (no counter space). The two upstairs king rooms are en suite, and are great spaces! However, there is no hall or en suite bathroom upstairs for the double bed bedroom. That can be awkward depending on the guest configuration. No closet or mirror in that bedroom, either. It would probably otherwise be an upstairs office vs a bedroom. The first floor king primary suite also has no available closet but there is a nice dresser with plenty of space. Lots of thoughtful touches in primary suite (strong fan, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, extra linens, rugs on bathroom floor, huge shower with bench, deep jacuzzi tub, charging station on nightstand). There were no hangers to be found anywhere. Plan accordingly. The screened in porch was too dingy to use. The furniture cushions should be replaced. We were very disappointed with that, as it's an inviting space. Anyone with difficulty climbing stairs should likely look elsewhere for a rental. All of the homes in the Kiawah Island subdivision (incredibly beautiful community!) appear to have stairs to get to home's front door entrance with multiple levels to negotiate. Also note that the garage and basement are not open or available for guest use. Overall, we would love to go back!
Nice Location and Size
The last get together with my cousins was about fifteen years ago. This was the perfect place to have a gathering. The area was nice, the house was clean and the amenities were great.
Overall, the house is very accommodating. It’s a large property that can easily host multiple families and is conveniently close to the beach. It has everything you would need for a big group, and it has the potential to be one of the best houses in Kiawah Island. That said, the biggest drawback—and the reason I probably wouldn’t rent it again—is the need for a very deep cleaning. Everything from the beds to the sofas to the carpets needs attention. For example, we even had to cover the sofa with plastic before sitting down because it was that dirty. If the cleanliness were improved, this house could truly be a fantastic rental in the future.
No beach access… home is very warm AC on the 2nd floor where 3 of the bedrooms are doesn’t cool down till about midnight.
The house is great and in a great location. I would have given the house a 4 star rating, but upon stripping beds for check out found almost all of the mattresses had significant urine stains. This was upsetting and frankly unacceptable. The mattresses should be replaced.
