THE SPACE

This is a two-story, 1,202-square-foot beach townhome in a low-rise oceanfront complex at Crescent Beach — not a single-level condo flat, which is what makes it feel more like a small beach house than a rental unit. The living level holds the kitchen, dining area, living room and a half bath, and opens through a slider onto a covered balcony with blue Adirondack chairs and a picnic table facing due east over the dune. Both bedrooms and the full bath are one flight up, which keeps sleeping quarters quiet and separate from the living space.

The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless appliances, a dishwasher, oven, kettle, blender and wine glasses — enough to actually cook rather than just reheat. There is a private washer and dryer in the unit. Guests consistently describe the condo as immaculate and thoughtfully stocked, right down to laundry and dishwasher pods, shampoo and conditioner, and spare paper towels waiting on arrival.

THE BALCONY, THE BEACH AND THE DARK SKIES

The covered balcony sits above the dune line, so the sightline clears the sea oats completely and gives you the ocean as the entire eastern horizon. Sunrise happens directly in front of you. A short wooden dune walkover crosses from the property straight onto the sand.

This stretch of Crescent Beach is uncrowded and calm, about fifteen minutes south of the busy part of St. Augustine Beach. It is also a protected sea-turtle nesting zone, which means no beachfront lighting is permitted — so the stargazing off the balcony is exceptional. Please keep curtains closed after dark during nesting season.

• A parking permit must be collected from the condo office between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM for unit E-14; 2 vehicles maximum, and cars without a pass risk being towed

• If arriving after 5:00 PM, leave a note on your dash with the unit number and collect the pass the next morning

• The second pool is heated November through April only
