About

Are you looking for one of the most unique experiences in all of Humboldt County? Or, maybe an exciting date idea? Unleash your inner lumberjack at the Hatchet House Throwing Club. The only axe-throwing venue in Humboldt!

How Does it Work?

To play, you will pay at the front and receive a lane. Once you get your lane, you'll be paired with a showing coach who will break down how to throw the axe. Additionally, you will receive a sheet that shows you all kinds of fun games you can play with your partner or group.

Rules & Rates

Of course, since you're playing with a tool that can be very dangerous, there are some important rules to follow. First off, you must be at least 8 years old to throw an axe. For those younger than 8 years old, they're able to spectate and play with a velcro axe target. However, if they're a minor who can prove they can throw in a safe manner, they may be able to play. An axe coach must assess them first.

  • Minors must be supervised at all times by a parent!
  • For those over 8 years old, you will just have to sign a waiver to throw.
  • Closed-toed shoes are required - no sandals or open-toe shoes.
  • You can bring your own axe, hatchet, or tomahawk! However, knife throwing is not accommodated.

The cost is by hour, unless you're a group of 4-6 then you pay by lane. It is $15/person for one hour and $10/person for a half hour. So, the hourly rate is a much better deal. If you're a group of 4-6, then the cost is just $50 for two targets or lanes. Though reservations here are not required, they are recommended during peak hours such as on the weekend.

Hatchet House Bar

The Hatchet House Bar serves over 20 types of local beers, both bottled and on tap. Draft beers are just $5! They also carry non-alcoholic drinks such as juice and lemonade. The bar is at the back of the building, past the lanes. There is a seating area near the bar to enjoy your beverage, but there are also tables in the center of all the lanes so you can take it back to your group as well.

The Couxp

At the Hatchet House, you're allowed to bring in your own snacks. However, if you're making the trip here we highly recommend trying the Couxp Food Truck. This food truck is parked right outside the Hatchet House, in the parking lot. They serve all kinds of delicious, high-quality dishes such as loaded fries, chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, and more.
