Ocean City

Known as the “White Marlin Capital of the World,” Ocean City is located on a ten-mile barrier island on Maryland’s eastern shore. Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the calm waters of Wight Bay to the west, Ocean City invites adventurers to experience the town’s maritime heritage accentuated with thrilling entertainment. The coastal landscape features expansive white sand beaches, gentle ocean waves, and a vibrant boardwalk stretching nearly 3 miles along its shore.

People visit Ocean City for the family-friendly atmosphere and endless entertainment. Given its proximity to the metropolitan centers of Baltimore, Washington, DC, and other mid-Atlantic cities, Ocean City is particularly bustling on summer weekends. Beach-goers flock to the boardwalk as the main hub for amusement park rides, arcade games, and local shops.

With a rich maritime history, Ocean City reels in fishing enthusiasts with opportunities to fish from the pier, beach, or aboard a boat for a deep-sea catch. With ready access to the Atlantic via surrounding inlets, Ocean City is one of the most important mid-Atlantic sports fishing destinations in the country. Watersports, championship golf courses, as well as the nearby Assateague Island National Seashore ensure there are activities for everyone to enjoy.

For your culinary enjoyment, the local dining scene in Ocean City offers everything from casual beachfront eats to fine dining on the bay. Maryland is famous for blue crabs, and Ocean City menus feature them prominently. Diners can find fresh crab cakes, steamed crabs covered in Old Bay seasoning, and local treats. A must stop on the boardwalk is the iconic Thrasher’s French Fries!

Since the first beach cottage dotted these sands in 1869, Ocean City has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors to its shores. The Atlantic Hotel, opened in 1875, established this coastal resort spot as a major tourist destination while construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel made the area accessible to millions.

Today, whether you choose to stroll along the 3-mile boardwalk, catch a 360° ocean view from a ferris wheel, or take a peaceful escape to the bayside trails at Northside Park, Ocean City is full of amusement. Experience the perfect blend of beachside relaxation and exciting attractions.
