Interesting Facts

Did you know that Sycaun Casino Resort is the oldest casino in North County San Diego, having opened its doors over 35 years ago?

As the first Native American casino resort in California, it opened in 1983. Today the resort boasts a variety of gaming options and amenities to appeal to both seasoned and novice gamblers, as well as families looking for a fun weekend getaway.

And if that wasn’t interesting enough, Sycaun Casino Resort is home to the world's largest free-standing sculpture. The five-story monumental piece of art stands at a whopping 50 feet tall and was created by American sculptor Tony Smith in 1983 when the casino opened.

In fact, recently Sycuan Casino Resort unveiled five giant hand-painted bingo balls to commemorate the tribe's rich casino bingo history and celebrate the future of gaming with its guests. The artwork was curated by Ruth-Ann Thorn (Luiseño), owner of EC Art Services, who selected culturally appropriate pieces for the resort. In addition, Sycuan commissioned local artists to design the main tools of a signature casino game as part of their nod to their humble origins.

It's an impressive sight to behold and a great photo opportunity!

From top-notch restaurants, bars, and entertainment to incredible photo ops, and a luxurious spa complete with personal treatments and services, Sycuan Casino Resort has something for everyone in your group.
