About

Vito's on Lake Anna has its roots in Italy and the American Dream. Many years ago, an 18-year-old Sicilian named Vito migrated to the US with just $100 in his pocket. While he couldn’t speak English, he had a dream: to open his own Italian restaurant. After decades of 80+ hour weeks, Vito built a family business dating back to 1977.

Years later, Vito’s son Rosolino took the helm, opening the Lake Anna location in 2015. Using family recipes, this family-run restaurant serves authentic Italian cuisine in a low-key spot, where everyone is treated like family.

Vito’s is in the Lake Anna Plaza, sharing downstairs space with other top-notch restaurants like Asian Cafe and Tasty Crab. Above Vito’s on the second floor is The Lounge, offering some of the best rooftop views of Lake Anna. It’s also your go-to for live music, karaoke, and happy hour discounts. We’ll discuss both dining options further in this post.

The restaurant’s location makes it convenient when planning meals around a day on the lake. The wet slips let boaters dock and dine, while kayakers from Lake Anna Outfitters across the way tie up there as well.

The menu features classic Italian comfort favorites like pizza, pasta, paninis, and small plates. Upstairs, The Lounge offers small plates along with its bar drinks. It bears mentioning The Lions Den 1837, a sister restaurant in a historic setting offering fine dining.

Vito's on Lake Anna offers a taste of Italy on your Virginia getaway.

Vibe

The restaurant is easy to spot on HI 208 and looks across the channel at Anna Point Marina. There is plenty of parking if arriving by car, while the slips attract boaters.

The downstairs interior is warm and inviting, with simple, homey touches that reflect the family-first spirit. Recent upgrades include black vinyl booths, modern hanging lights, and a dark brown ceiling. The tan wall color ties these elements together, while the family pictures dotting the wall add a homey vibe to the space.

Head upstairs to The Lounge whose interior's bright colors and multiple flat-screen TVs create a lively dining spot. Step outside onto the rooftop for sunset meals or enjoying toe-tapping live music.

This vast range of dining settings makes Vito's a top pick for locals and vacationers alike.

Vito's on Lake Anna: Menu & Drinks

Kickstart your epicurean experience with an appetizer like the garlic knots. These homemade gems are sprinkled with Parmigiano cheese and topped with a classic red sauce.

Add the peel-and-eat shrimp, the caprese salad, or the fries with melted cheeses and bacon, and you have a tapas-style dining experience.

With the variety of salads offered, you’ll find something for any diet or taste. A prime example is the Bordeaux salad with spinach, goat cheese, candied pecans, dried cranberries, and raspberry vinaigrette. The Caesar, Greek, and house salads round out the options.

One dish diners return for is the WOW pizza, which features ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese, along with garlic, olive oil, roasted red peppers, and red onions.

When it comes to Italian entrees, the Chicken Marsala is a rich, satisfying pick, with fresh chicken breast sautéed with mushrooms in a Marsala wine sauce. Add the side of spaghetti, and you have a soul-satisfying meal!

Pasta dishes range from gnocchi Toscana, lasagna, and lobster ravioli, to name a few. Other delightful picks include burgers and an assortment of paninis, like the Caprese panini. Vegetarians rave about this Italian sandwich with fresh mozzarella, pesto sauce, tomatoes, oregano, and fresh basil.

Frequently Asked Questions

The best time to visit Lake Anna is from late May to early September, when water temperatures are ideal for swimming, tubing, and kayaking. But don't rule out Autumn, when the spectacular backdrop of changing leaves and comfortable weather makes hiking a delight.

Lake Anna is easily accessible by car and located at a convenient driving distance from several larger cities and urban areas:

  • From Washington, DC: 80 miles
  • From Richmond, VA: 50 miles
  • From Fredericksburg, VA: 20 miles

Definitely. Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania County hugs the shores of Lake Anna, offering a swimming beach, picnic areas, playground, and numerous other amenities. Note - there is an access fee to the lake area as well as a per person fee to the beach.

Lake Anna is divided into a larger Public Side extending north to south on the lake’s eastern shore, and a small Private Side in the southwest portion of the lake. In addition to the Public Side generally having cooler water than the Private Side, the former is where you will find waterfront marinas, restaurants, public launches, and other amenities accessible by boat.

The Private Side is considered to be the “warmer” part of Lake Anna and less crowded overall and is only accessible to property owners in that area. The two parts of Lake Anna are separated by a series of dikes so you cannot cross to the other side by boat.
