Nonstop flights from several major US cities let you fly directly into Jackson Hole Airport. Major airlines including Delta, United, and America provide convenient direct flights to the area. The Idaho Falls Regional Airport is another option, at about 2 hours away.

Alternatively, getting here offers travelers the ultimate American road trip! If coming from the north, take US 191 through Yellowstone National Park or explore Snake River Canyon along US 89 if coming from the south. The drive from Salt Lake City to Jackson Hole is approximately 4½ hours, and two hours from Idaho Falls.


Jackson Hole offers plenty of activities at any time of the year, so deciding when to visit depends on your own preference. December through March are perfect for skiing and snowboarding.

When warm weather arrives, hiking, wildlife viewing, and visiting national parks are the things to do. Spring and fall are often less crowded and great for wildlife viewing and crisp days. Summer activities provide the ideal opportunity for whitewater rafting, rock climbing, and hiking.

You can purchase lift tickets directly through the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort website. It is always recommended to buy your passes online well in advance, as daily capacities are limited and tickets frequently sell out during peak winter dates.

Jackson Hole serves as a gateway to two iconic national parks: Grand Teton National Park is just minutes north of town, while the south entrance to Yellowstone National Park is roughly an hour away by car.

While the local bus system connects you to the town and ski resort, renting a car gives you freedom to explore national parks and scenic drives at your own pace. Having a car is highly recommended so you can more readily explore the neighboring National Parks.
