About

Enriched with breathtaking vistas, diverse wildlife, and a remarkable legacy, Jordanelle State Park invites you on an unforgettable journey into Utah's vibrant natural world.

Located in the heart of Heber City, Jordanelle State Park opened its doors to the public following the completion of Jordanelle Dam in 1992.

The park gained recognition for its mesmerizing natural beauty and wealth of recreational activities across its 4,000 acres.

The vibrant hues of wildflowers scattered across meadows, the emerald-green mountain ranges, and the azure, expansive reservoir all come together to form a unique tableau of unspoiled nature.

The state park takes its name from the Jordanelle Dam, an impressive feat of engineering leading to a sprawling reservoir.

The dam's construction enabled the Provo River to be harnessed for irrigation, drinking, and hydroelectric power. The Jordanelle Dam changed the landscape, creating a haven for water sports, camping, and fishing enthusiasts.

Today, Jordanelle State Park embodies Utah's commitment to preserving its captivating landscapes and promoting an active, outdoor lifestyle.

Jordanelle State Park blends history and natural beauty waiting to be discovered. With so much to see and do at Jordanelle State Park, it's the perfect getaway on your Heber City vacation.

Fun Facts & Cool Features

Jordanelle State Park boasts various fascinating features to make your Heber City vacation spectacular.

One exciting feature is the massive Jordanelle Reservoir, spanning an impressive 3,068 acres.

Water sports enthusiasts flock here to jet ski, paddleboard, and explore the water's edge.

Since the reservoir is home to various fish species, it's a favorite destination for anglers.

The park's extensive trail system offers miles of scenic hikes that lead to breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.

Before the dam created the reservoir, there were two small towns in the valley: Hailstone and Keetley.

The Keetley Railroad Depot was moved before flooding to Park City to be the Senior Center, and families were relocated, too.

Today, buildings of two pioneer towns, ranches, and farms are in a watery grave known as Jordanelle Reservoir.
