The Moody family is arguably the most influential family in Galveston’s history! The family's story began many years ago in the cotton trading industry. The Moody's moved to Galveston at the turn of the century in 1900. After establishing themselves as a family of lawyers and entrepreneurs, they found large success. A drive through the streets of Galveston will prove their influence. Everywhere you look you will find various businesses named after this family. In 1986 they commissioned the Moody Gardens project. What started as a hippotherapy program quickly grew to include animal and horticultural therapy. Today, it is a fully interactive educational center. The program is also committed to the preservation of wildlife. Aside from a hotel and small water park, the main event is the pyramids. The three pyramids include the Aquarium, Rainforest, and Discovery. 

Aquarium Pyramid

This aquarium is a 1.5 million gallon exhibit making it one of the largest aquariums in the Southwest! Here you will find seals, penguins, sharks, and a breathtaking jellyfish gallery. Additionally, the interactive experience includes messages for conservation of the ocean and its' creatures.

Rainforest Pyramid

As you enter the Rainforest Pyramid, there is an interactive room that will surround you with the sounds of the rainforest. Then, you open to the doors to another world (and more humidity). You will be completely immersed in a rainforest experience with birds flying around you and monkeys or sloths climbing the railings nearby. This exhibit features pieces of Asian, African, and American rainforests. Additionally, there are exotic tropical fish at the lower level.

The beautiful animals in these two pyramids are a sight to see. This activity is a must when you're in Galveston!

Discovery Pyramid

The Discovery Pyramid is the only pyramid that really changes its exhibit. The current music room will be a blast for anyone to go through! (2022) You can play with the sounds of all kinds of instruments, both old and new. Some of the instruments include a gigantic floor piano you can step on, a theremin, and guitar strings!

3D & 4D Theatres

Experience one of the best viewing experiences in the world at the 3D and 4D theatres inside the pyramids! Through a combination of one of the largest screens in Texas and top of the notch technology, you will be immersed in whatever's playing.
