About

When in Galveston, a trip to Gaido's fish house is in order. This restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in the city, opening its doors in 1911. Since its opening, Gaido's has remained family-owned. They've also maintained their reputation for only providing the best, from food to service. After decades in the business, they're able to offer time-tested family recipes that are sure to impress.

The environment of this restaurant is upscale and we recommend dressing business casual. Of course, this is not a requirement. However, once you scroll through the photos of the interior of the restaurant, you'll want to dress up here even if just for some fun photos!

There is no outdoor seating here, only a spacious, chic dining room. There is a sitting area with comfortable retro chairs and a private dining room on the other end of the restaurant.

Fun fact about Gaido's: This establishment boasts the 2nd largest kitchen in all of Texas. Their kitchen can support up to 8 different dining rooms. Another fun fact? They are one of the only restaurants that still brings hot water in a bowl at the end of your meal. To dip your fingers in after a fishy meal, of course. How cool is that?

We recommend trying these dishes from Gaido's:

Crab Stuffed Shrimp

According to the servers here, this sharable is guaranteed to be a hit. One of the servers claimed that after years of working here, this dish has never been sent back! The dish includes 5 jumbo gulf shrimp stuffed with their signature crab cake. Then, it's baked to perfection and topped with a complementary lemon butter garlic sauce.

Signature Oysters (Seasonal)

If you like oysters, you're in for a real treat here! Have it your way with raw, deviled egg, charcoal grilled, baked, or fried oysters. The options are endless. You can order a half dozen or full dozen. Additionally, there are platter options for a larger group. No matter how you like your oysters, Gaido's will be able to satisfy.

Pecan Encrusted Mahi Mahi

For something a little less adventurous, but still delicious we recommend the Mahi Mahi. This extra lean and firm white meat fish filet is coated in house-made pecan breading and pan sautéed to crisp perfection. Do yourself the favor and order the sliced tomatoes as your side. The slices come warm with melted cheese and herbs, we can't rave enough about it.

Signature Desserts

Gaido's is known for their delectable sweets! It's worth a trip just to try some of the decadent Chocolate Brownie Deluxe Cake or perfectly tart Key Lime Cheesecake.
