About

There are a couple reasons you may recognize the name of this restaurant. Either due to its success as a franchise across the country or because of the significance to the iconic movie Forrest Gump!

The first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant opened its doors in 1996 in Monterey, California. The goal of this restaurant is to capture the charm and American spirit within the hit movie. Even if you have not watched this movie, you will be able to admire the southern theme of the restaurant. The dining rooms within the  restaurant are modeled after scenes in the movie or general Alabama Southern style. For example, there is a section based on Forrest's mom's house.

This location is found on Paradise Pier. Situated at the entrance of the bridge, it is hard to miss! Throughout the restaurant, you will find memorabilia and still photos from the movie. There are few restaurants that pay this much attention to details! Everywhere you look and anywhere you sit, you will find pieces of the movie weaved into the decor. Even the menu is riddled with anecdotes and characters names.

One fun touch at this restaurant is the use of a double-sided license plate to communicate with your waiter. On one side, the sign reads "Run Forrest Run!" This is code for, "Our table is good, we don't need anything." On the other hand, the sign reads "Stop Forrest Stop!" If you switch your sign to this, it tells the waiter "We need something, please stop by." Quite a unique yet efficient way to communicate, right?

What we recommend from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

"Of course we have scampi!"

You can't go wrong with shrimp scampi! Dressed in a lobster butter sauce is shrimp, linguine pasta, and parmesan cheese. In addition, you receive a delicious piece of their signature garlic bread.

Ping Pong Chicken Pasta

Grilled chicken breast is placed on top of a bed of linguine dressed in cream sauce. On the side, this dish is accompanied by tasty garlic bread. Additionally, it comes with grape tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Tasty!

Crab and Shrimp Boil for Two

You can't go to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. without trying any of their famous shrimp! This unique dish includes snow crab, shrimp, andouille sausage, corn on the cob, and red potatoes. All these ingredients are mixed up and boiled. Then, they are seasoned your way - either garlic or cajun style.

Mix-Your-Own Marg

Few restaurants give you the option to create your own margarita from scratch! At Bubba Gump, you start by selecting a tequila from a solid list of tequila choices. Next, you can choose from original or fruit flavors. Lastly, you can choose to have a salt, sugar, or spicy rim. Additionally, for an extra charge, you can upgrade to a Coronarita or add some Grand Marnier. How fun!
