About
When seeking an adventure-filled attraction for the entire family, look no further than RushSouth Whitewater Park. From ziplines to paddleboarding, whitewater rafting, fly-fishing, and bike trails, there's an activity waiting for your discovery!
Located on the Chattahoochee River, RushSouth Whitewater Park features the world's longest urban whitewater course. Unlike other whitewater rivers, engineers created this stretch by using dams upstream to control the flow of the Chattahoochee.
Such engineering offers two distinct experiences. Mornings are perfect for families and beginners, with low-flow rafting providing a gentle yet exciting ride. In the afternoons, the river transforms as it carries up to 13,000 cubic feet per second of water. The result is Class III to V rapids for kayakers and whitewater rafting tours.
Beyond the rapids, the park hosts major events like the Columbus Cup and the Paddle South Whitewater Games. Both tours attract athletes and spectators from across the country annually.
The scenic 22-mile RiverWalk offers stunning river views for walkers, runners, and cyclists, while the eddies and pools attract anglers. The ziplines over the Chattahoochee and aerial adventures will appeal to those who prefer land-based thrills. The splash pad and playground at Woodruff Park will appeal to those traveling with young children.
RushSouth Whitewater Park delivers an unforgettable experience, whether you're seeking adrenaline-pumping action or a low-key day by the river.
RushSouth Whitewater Park: Fun Facts & Cool Features
Imagine zooming safely 45' over whitewater from one state to another. Such an experience is yours at the zipline course at RushSouth Whitewater Park. There are four packages to choose from, each offering something for every interest and budget.
Three of the tours feature the 1,200' zip lines across the Chattahoochee into Alabama, a one-of-a-kind experience. In this course, you can hit 40 mph as you soar like an eagle over the rushing river. On the Alabama side, there's a 500' course through the trees, and the aerial course. You must be at least 10 years old and weigh 70 lbs to zipline.
Next up is the aforementioned whitewater course. The Classic Trip takes you through Class I and III rapids, which is ideal for children 7 or older who weigh at least 60 pounds, as well as beginners.
If you're 12 or older, the Challenge Trip is a 2.5-3 hour rafting trip that tackles a Class IV rapid, Cutbait. On the Carnage Trip, you'll experience the same rapids as those of the Challenge but in a smaller raft, making for aggressive surfing.
For a solo water adventure, rent an inflatable kayak or duckie. This guide-assisted tour lets you paddle the Classic Trip rapids, letting you learn first-hand how to manage the rapids on your own.
The RiverWalk offers a tranquil alternative for walking, jogging, or biking. The trail is dotted with scenic overlooks, benches, and shaded areas. It's also a great spot to watch kayakers and rafters navigate the rapids. The RiverWalk also connects you to other landmarks, like the National Infantry Museum. Such convenience lets you explore Columbus without ever needing your car!
If we had more time, we could discuss fly-fishing lessons, paddleboarding, SUP Yoga, kayak lessons, and the Whitewater Adventure Camp. Be sure to explore these on the website.
After working up an appetite zip lining or shooting the rapids, head to nearby restaurants like 11th and Bay Southern Table. Not only is this within walking distance, but the artisan Southern cuisine and craft cocktails are some of the best in the area.
Whether you're zipping across state lines, conquering rapids, or strolling beside the river, RushSouth Whitewater Park is a must-try in Columbus.
