Welcome to

Cape Cod

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Cod Bay, and Nantucket Sound, Cape Cod's distinctive hook-shaped frame features windswept dunes, coastal salt marshes, and 400 miles of beautiful shoreline. Located about an hour east of Boston, Cape Cod’s four distinct regions offer endless opportunities to explore stunning coastal landscapes, historic landmarks, and fresh culinary delights straight from the sea.

From Provincetown and the Cape Cod National Seashore on the Outer Cape to the Sandwich boardwalk on the Upper Cape, vacationers to Cape Cod enjoy outdoor recreation, family-friendly beaches, and fantastic whale-watching opportunities. Similarly, charming seaside villages in the Lower and Mid-Cape offer classic New England charm for a relaxed coastal escape.

Long before it became a vacation hotspot and top New England getaway, this region has been a fundamental part of the nation’s history as the Pilgrims first dropped anchor in Provincetown Harbor in 1620. During the 18th and 19th centuries, whaling and commercial fishing were its main draws. You'll notice this rich maritime past in the local architecture, museums, and historic lighthouses still standing today. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum in Hyannis preserves these rich maritime traditions, showcasing what the region is known for.

Abundant seafood restaurants dotting Cape Cod are another reminder of its fishing history. These eateries let you savor a classic New England lobster roll, rich clam chowder, and freshly shucked Wellfleet oysters. Aside from cuisine, the area is rich with art galleries, community theaters, and summer band concerts held on the historic town greens.
