About
The Yellowstone Giant Screen Theatre is a movie theater with ongoing shows, but there are some other reasons to check it out as well.
It is situated right at the West Entrance to the National Park, which makes it a great choice for those who may be camping nearby and want to dash out for a few hours in the air conditioning (that’s what I did!)
While the theater is a movie theater in all ways, it is also a beautiful location that is tucked into a cabin-like space. It is a massive space that is well-designed. When you step inside, it is quite impressive, and yet you feel as though you are a part of the movie playing on it.
The giant screen plays a movie called “Yellowstone,” which tells the story of the entire region. It is quite interesting and definitely offers a lot of insight and appreciation into the area. It talks about the area’s history, which spans more than 100,000 years of that history in the movie.
I thought it was really well done and not a boring, educational movie you remember from Earth Science class long ago.
If you are staying nearby, especially in Yellowstone itself, it is nice to learn a bit about its history as well as all of the work that went into it. Make sure you make some time to check it out during your Yellowstone vacation!
Fun Facts About Yellowstone Giant Screen Theatre
I had to ask some questions because I was so impressed with the size and overall design of the Yellowstone Giant Screen Theatre.
First, it is six stories tall—yes, really! It measures 60 feet by 80 feet. That makes it a huge screen to view. I found out it was the only certified Giant Screen Theatre anywhere in the region (I didn’t know there were others).
I also found out there is a six-track sound system in this location, and the digital picture is a 4K!
The people at the location were really friendly. I had some questions and thoughts I wanted to share and got some great insight. They also helped us to pick the best seats for the screening we were going to based on the vantage point we wanted to have.
Also, if you go with the premium seats, you end up getting free popcorn to enjoy during the movie. That was a nice surprise, and the seats were super comfortable in this area, with a high back to them and cozy leather.
