About

Yellowstone Playhouse at Island Park is a staple in the area and has been for at least a decade. This family-friendly location has something for everyone, including those who just want to have some fun after a long day in the parks.

This incredible dinner theater offers a fun show, and they put on about 70 shows during the summer season. And if you like to laugh, there is always something to laugh about here.

The location was founded in May of 2008 when Drew and Julie Durrant opened Mack’s Inn Playhouse. It really was then that my family started to come to the musicals and fell in love with the overall hilarious fun of them. It quickly became a family tradition to stop by whenever we came to Yellowstone for a visit.

The location has changed a bit, but now it is about 10 minutes from the West Gate of Yellowstone, which makes it super easy to get to. The location is a 10,000-square-foot theater and restaurant, and it sits right on Henry’s Lake—which also creates a nice backdrop to the area.

You can come just for the show if you do not want to eat here, but most people do both, and I can say it is well worth the experience.

Be sure to let them know what your plans are when you make reservations for the show. The cast is fantastic, and there are always lots of smiles after this within our family.

I truly love this tradition because it is such good, wholesome fun for everyone.

Vibe

It is a rip, roaring good time here, for sure.

The Yellowstone Playhouse at Island Park is full of lots of fun—singing, jokes, and lots of conservation. There’s a bit of audience participation as well (and you will want to be called on for the fun of it all).

You can easily find yourself smiling and laughing throughout the show, entertaining young and old alike!

Yellowstone Playhouse at Island Park: Menu & Drinks

One of the best things about Yellowstone Playhouse at Island Park is the food itself.

While you come, sit, and eat your meal, you’ll be able to enjoy the show. However, you can choose from several meal options.

I prefer the Prime Rib Dinner and Show, which is a reservation that comes with a huge portion of prime rib, baked beans, corn, baked potato, salad, and drink. It also gets you an ice cream sandwich for dessert. I paid about $41 for this meal.

There are a number of other options available, including Romana’s Homemade Mac & Cheese. It is an exceptional mac and cheese that is hard to beat. It comes with lots of sides and the same dessert. It was about $29 when I was there last.

The third meal choice is an Italian Breaded Chicken Dinner. It includes the same sides but comes with a very moist and tender chicken breast that’s breaded and fried. Super yummy! This meal was about $39.

Local Tips

  • Be sure to check the website to find out what’s going on—some of the shows that take place are comedy and others musical, but they always update the website.
  • The shows have a lot of humor in them and are not fully scripted, which means that each one is a bit different (if you have seen it before, it’s okay to see it again!)
  • If you want to come just for the show, the cost is $25 (when I was there in 2023). However, for like $10 more, you can get a huge meal, making it well worth it!
  • Be sure to book your tickets in advance as the shows change from time to time (if you’re in the area for a few weeks, see two of them!)
