About

Can I just say Firehole Bar-B-Que Co. is one of the best barbecue restaurants in the region, not just in Yellowstone? If you like BBQ, then this is the place for you!

It’s open every day of the week, and it’s always busy. I have been here a few times, and if you are not early enough, you miss out. They do not take reservations, either. Rather, they follow the first come, first served motto, so be ready!

They offer a full menu of good food which includes lots of home-smoked meats (and they do it right there onsite) along with excellent comfort sides.

The food is so good people come in to get big portions to take home to enjoy for a full few days (get the 32 ounces of mac and cheese, and you’ll be set). They do a great job making everything with fresh ingredients, too, including the nice crisp coleslaw they have available.

And if you have a fun Yellowstone adventure planned, I recommend ordering takeout for a picnic in the park. You will definitely make everyone else jealous with the flavors of this fantastic menu!

Vibe

Firehole Bar-B-Que Co. offers a fun-loving and upbeat vibe!  And it’s easy to feel right at home here.

I also find that the rustic, Old West theme is perfect for the meals they are serving up. It’s a great place to be, and I have never had bad service in the few times I’ve visited the location.

Firehole Bar-B-Que Co.: Menu & Drinks

When it comes to Firehole, I have to say the main reason I come here is the food. The people are great, but the food is excellent.

It is hard to go wrong when you can order your favorite smoked meats by the pound! My favorite is the brisket, but they also offer turkey, pork, and buffalo sausage (which is a local favorite for some people).

I think the best thing on the menu for those who want really good, meaty servings is the ribs. They offer St. Louis Pork Ribs (you get like 12 bones for a full rack). They are big and fall right off the bone.

If you are coming in for lunch and do not want something more handheld, go for the pulled brisket or pork. It is an excellent sandwich that also has pickles, onions, and sauce on it (you can get the sauce on the side, so you can add as much as you want and whichever version you want to your dish). Honestly, it is hard to go wrong with any of them.

I also have to mention the sides. They are outstanding and all scratch-made at the location. That includes my favorite—the cornsalad, which includes cold corn with mayo and onion. It’s got a nice, cool bite that’s perfect after your meal. They also have pinto beans with brisket in them, mac and cheese (you have to get some), and loaded baked potatoes.

As for drinks, they have fountain drinks and a small selection of bottled drinks to choose from.

Local Tips

  • The location has been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and whenever it airs, it gets really busy!
  • You are sure to love the sauce, and the good news is you can take some home with you because they sell it by the bottle. I highly recommend doing that.
  • I have found that coming in for a late lunch or early dinner is the best way to get the least crowds and all of the good food before it runs out!
  • The location is seasonal, though, so be sure to check in if you are visiting early in the year or late in the summer months to be sure they are available.
