About

I visited Bullwinkles Saloon & Eatery in West Yellowstone for dinner with my significant other while we were visiting the area. We were looking for a nice evening out without the kids, and this location did a good job providing that.

It’s a unique blend of options—there’s a full-service bar with more upscale good food, a liquor store so you can take your favorites home with you, and a casino bar, perfect for a few games before or after your meal.

Bullwinkles Saloon & Eatery is a family-owned location and really stands out in terms of quality.

One way they do that is by providing a scatch-made menu. A lot of the foods on the menu are made from family-tried-and-true recipes. They even cut their own meat and made their own meatballs by hand. I found that their dressings, sauces, and just about everything else are prepped in-house as well. I don’t know of a lot of restaurants that do that these days.

And while my visit was kid-free, this is a kid-friendly location with a full kid’s menu available for those that are looking for something the kids will eat.

Whether you’re wanting a special night out with your friends or a family experience, Bullwinkles Saloon & Eatery is the perfect place!

Vibe

The vibe at Bullwinkles Saloon & Eatery is American fare, and it offers something for everyone. It is not a stuffy location at all and offers really well-made food like it is.

There are TVs, a bar area, a casino area, and a lot of room to move about and chat with friends. It has a Western theme to it but is not cheesy like some places can be.

It’s also very clean, well-lit, and you can certainly bring some friends and enjoy a conversation here.

Bullwinkles Saloon & Eatery: Menu & Drinks

The menu has a range of American fish and game-style dishes on it. As I mentioned, a lot of it is scratch made.

One of my favorites here is the Spinach and artichoke dip. You can tell they made it from scratch with fresh ingredients. It is so creamy, and the crostini are lightly toasted. You can taste the fresh red peppers in here, too.

Then for dinner, I tried the Elk Ravioli. It is definitely a different option than what you will find otherwise (they also have broasted chicken, roast duck, walleye, and meatloaf with a blend of locally raised meats). My ravioli was very flavorful and rich. You can tell they make them in-house as well since they are so soft. The sauce is a rich, gravy-like consistency with mushrooms, shallots, and garlic. They top the entire thing with Parmesan cheese. It’s quite the decadent meal.

For a drink, you can grab a local beer or some wine if you want. I decided on the Huckleberry Mule. It is nice and tart and tangy and offers a lot of refreshing taste to it. I really enjoyed it.

For dessert, I decided on the Huckleberry Cheesecake. It was a nice combination of flavors and topped with fresh whipped cream (yes, they made that in-house as well).

Local Tips

  • There’s always a reason to go for a short walk after dinner, and since there are souvenir shops and fun ice cream nearby, that’s what we did.
  • I had a cocktail during my meal and asked the waitress about it. I was then able to pick up the mixes at the liquor store so I could recreate them at home the next day.
  • The location’s casino is a bit small, with a few gaming consoles and some table games, but that’s not why we came here, anyway!
  • I love the people. They are always so friendly here, and that is a welcoming experience.
