About

As most travelers and vacationers know, Montana is brimming with breathtaking landscapes and snow-capped mountains. But this outdoor paradise also has captivating attractions. A prime example is the adrenaline-pumping Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster that's gaining popularity in the Whitefish area.

The brainchild behind this exhilarating ride is Jessica Wedel, who wanted to bring a touch of excitement to the already stunning vistas of Montana. It opened in 2023 and is the first alpine coaster in Montana.

Picture yourself whizzing down a track, the fresh Montana air rushing past, and Flathead Lake shimmering in the background. This ride screams 'vacationing highlight,' for sure!

And if it's drizzling or snowing, no worries! The track sleds at Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster can be equipped with plastic windshields to help keep you dry.

Alpine rides last around 7-9 minutes, depending on how fast you descend.

The coaster merges modern engineering with Montana's timeless natural beauty, making it an experience that resonates with young thrill-seekers and those young at heart. The coaster's construction was a nod to the age-old human desire to blend excitement with scenic beauty, and they hit the nail right on the head with this one!

Fun Facts & Cool Features

The coaster's track is 4,000 long, which translates into riders careening down the mountain for a little over a mile! You'll have plenty of time to take in the incredible views while satisfying your hunger for excitement.

Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster is very safe and abides by strict government policies for outdoor amusements. Daily inspections are part of their routine, and your safety is their top priority.

Even if you're not a thrill-seeker, Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster can give you a fun experience. Brakes are on each coaster, meaning you control how fast you go.

But for you daredevils, the coaster reaches speeds of 25 mph, which local wildlife envy! Oh, and don't forget about that one drop. It mimics that free-fall feeling of diving into Flathead Lake!

Nature lovers will also enjoy the coaster ride because it's not uncommon to spot native Montana birds soaring nearby.

At night, lights give the coaster track a different vibe and ride experience. Imagine speeding downhill with the stars overhead and the lake shimmering under the moonlight.
