The restaurant's journey began in January 2010, with its first location at the end of the Manatee Pocket in Port Salerno. Manatee Island quickly became a "must-see" destination, blessed with a prime location, dedicated staff, and a loyal customer base. The team behind this establishment has fostered a sense of family over the years, contributing to its warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The success at Port Salerno paved the way for opening a second location on Hutchinson Island, overlooking the picturesque Fort Pierce inlet. The Fort Pierce location has thrived, offering indoor and outdoor seating, a delightful ambiance, and a selection of fine music, becoming a vibrant part of the community's social and dining scene. 

In 2023, a significant chapter unfolded in the restaurant's history with the acquisition by Perry Hospitality Group, a Charleston, SC-based group. Owning 11 other restaurants, the group took ownership of Manatee Island to continue and enhance its legacy. Their vision includes maintaining the restaurant's current high standards, making improvements, and expanding its footprint in the area.
