Skiing & Snowboarding on Snowshoe Mountain

About

It comes as no surprise that snowboarding and skiing are the true draw in this region during the winter season! The Mountain is one of 2 highest peaks in the entire state with an elevation of 4,848ft. Due to the proximity of the mountain to the Great Lakes, Snowshoe Mountain is the perfect sweet spot for consistent snowfall.

Not only does the mountain produce its own natural snow, but snowmakers are hard at work all season to ensure optimal mountain conditions. Through the use of Snowguns, Snowshoe Mountain can ensure that there is a high-quality snow surface at all times during the season!

Lift Tickets

Snowshoe is also a popular ski destination because it is more affordable than others. The Winter season typically begins at the end of November and ends just before April. The beginning and end of the season are less busy - this is a great time to purchase tickets at the lowest end of the range.

Ticket prices are dependent of date and age of the participant. However, the range will fall between $30-85/day. Tickets and season passes can be purchased online. We highly recommend reserving your passes in advance, especially during peak weekends. This includes holidays and 3-day weekends. They tend to sell out far in advance!

Rentals & Lessons

There are a multitude of rental shops to choose from. The most affordable choice being the Ski Barn at the base of the mountain or the Snow Creek Mountain Sports barn next to the Old Spruce Brewery.

In Snowshoe Village, there is Expedition Rentals and Mountain Adventure Center. Alternatively, there is Elk River Snowboard & Ski Rentals at Soaring Eagle Lodge.

There are various lessons to choose from - private, group, and based on level. You can sign up for lessons inside Expedition Rentals at their front desk. They tend to start on the hour, but the schedule varies. This is also the best place to find public lockers for your personal belongings. Depending on the length and type of lesson, the price will vary. For a general idea, it costs about $55/adult to join a group ski lesson.

Snowshoe Mountain & Lifts

The runs on Snowshoe Mountain are short and sweet! The lifts include Silver Creek, Soaring Eagle, Ballhooter, Skidder, Powder Monkey, and Grabhammer. There is plenty to explore. At the end of the Ballhooter run is also a restaurant called the Boathouse, if you want a quick break.

Did you know that the Soaring Eagle lift is the second- highest ski lodge east of Colorado? Many of the resorts on the mountain are ski in/out which makes for a very convenient trip! Silver Creek is a one-stop shop as far as resorts go. They have a ski lift and tubing park on-site. Additionally, they have games, restaurants, and shops right in their lobby. To explore stays on the mountain, see the Casago Snowshoe website.
