About

A grand old house, groves of live oaks, and blooming gardens make Eden Gardens State Park a relaxing, beautiful destination.

Located on the northern side of HI 98 along the shores of the Tucker Bayou, Eden Gardens State Park features 163 acres of untouched greenery. At the center of this sprawling park is the 1897 Wesley House, a two-story mansion with white columns and wraparound porches.

The Wesley family owned the house during a time when lumber shaped the Emerald Coast. The nearby bayou played an important role, helping move timber and supplies up and down the coast.

While tourists flock to 30A for its sugar-white sand and turquoise water, Eden Gardens State Park offers insight into the history behind the scenic coastline.

In the 1960s, Lois Maxon purchased and restored the Wesley House, filling it with a collection of antiques from the Louis XVI period. In 1968, she donated the property to the state of Florida so future visitors could enjoy it as a public park.

While the house remains the centerpiece, the grounds are a major part of the experience. Paths lead past camellias, azaleas, roses, and moss-draped oaks that change with the seasons.

Best of all, Eden Gardens State Park is close to the beach, so you don't have to travel far to enjoy its history, gardens, shade, and bayou views.

Eden Gardens State Park: Fun Facts & Cool Features

The Wesley House is the star attraction, with its tall columns, wide porches, and white exterior glowing against the park's greenery. Inside, guided tours of the 5,500-square-foot mansion offer a closer look at antique furnishings in the restored rooms.

The gardens bring a soft, colorful contrast to the mansion's crisp architecture. Camellias and Azaleas are major highlights, with a wide variety blooming from October through May.

With over 1 mile of shaded trails, you can stroll past roses, oaks, and other plantings. A popular pathway is the Living Shoreline Trail that meanders through the ornamental gardens. You'll see the heritage rose garden, butterfly garden, hidden garden, and a reflection pond filled with water lilies and koi fish. Grab a detailed trail map at the park office and explore the breathtaking beauty.

Tucker Bayou runs along the northern edge of the property, giving the park a peaceful coastal feel. Here, you'll find the kayak launch and fishing pier for outdoor enthusiasts.

The park also has open lawns, perfect for spreading out a blanket for a picnic. You'll also find picnic tables dotting the area, while 4 pavilions are available for larger groups.
