About
Set in a territorial hacienda-style adobe building, the elegant, award-winning Geronimo has been one of Santa Fe’s top culinary destinations for over a quarter century. Rich in architectural and culinary history, Geronimo offers a refined, romantic setting for diners seeking a truly special experience.
The restaurant’s thick adobe walls hold stories dating back to 1756, when Geronimo Lopez first built the "Borrego House." This was long before Canyon Road became one of the country's best-known art districts. Kiva fireplaces and wood beams still surround every table, giving the restaurant a sense of place few others can match.
Offering a fine-dining experience wrapped in the warmth of minimalist southwestern decor, Geronimo has continually received Forbes Travel Guide Four-Stars, as well as AAA’s Four Diamond Award, and Open Table’s Diners’ Choice recognition. Wine Spectator has also given its 300-selection wine list an Award of Excellence every year since 2018.
Contributing to Geronimo’s longtime success are signature dishes from their “global eclectic” menu, such as Tellicherry Rubbed Elk Tenderloin, New Mexico Four Corners Grilled Rack of Lamb, and mesquite-grilled Maine lobster tails.
Present day co-owner and Executive Chef Sllin Cruz served as chef de cuisine at Geronimo in 2015, under the legendary late chef Eric DiStefano. In 2016, Cruz dove into his present role in leading the kitchen with a diverse menu that changes with each season, while maintaining the consistency of time-treasured favorites.
Vibe
Geronimo's classic adobe exterior fits right in along Canyon Road. The front patio looks out over the street, and on cool evenings, heaters, vinyl curtains, and blankets keep diners comfortable.
Step inside and the rooms feel intimate and warm. Kiva fireplaces sit tucked into the corners, wood vigas stretch across the ceilings, art pieces with horses adorn the walls, while elk horn chandeliers add a distinctly refined Western flair to the surroundings.
With soft music playing in the background, the noise level allows for easy conversation. In addition, the restaurant’s request to not have diners under 10 years of age lends another distinguished level to the polished dining experience.
You can choose from the main dining rooms, a seat at the bar counter or a bar table, or a spot on the outdoor front patio. Many guests are welcomed with a complimentary pour of local Gruet sparkling wine.
Geronimo: Menu & Drinks
The Tellicherry Pepper-Rubbed Elk Tenderloin is the dish regulars talk about most. It comes with roasted garlic fork-mashed potatoes, sugar snap peas, applewood-smoked bacon, and a creamy brandied mushroom sauce.
Seafood fans should try the Green Miso Sea Bass. It's served over ramen noodles and bok choy, then finished with truffle essence, lobster miso, and citron rouille.
Or choose from the seasonal four-course Vegetarian Tasting menu, paired with carefully selected Sommelier wines.
To drink, choose from Geronimo’s ample wine collection or take time to savor the Borrego Margarita. Made with organic green chile-infused silver tequila, this is a nod to New Mexico's favorite crop. Save room for the Fresh Meyer lemon crêpe, which is light and unforgettable.
Geronimo blends history, polished service, and creative food in a way that defines a Santa Fe vacation. Whether you're marking a milestone or simply want one standout meal, this Canyon Road icon delivers.
