The cafe's history is as flavorful as its creative menu. It was a functioning post office until 1951 and later became a retail store. The building got its second wind in 1977 when it was transformed into the Old Post Office Cafe. Since then, it's been a beacon of warm hospitality and hearty meals.

The cafe boasts a menu that champions local flavors, often adding a unique spin on classic American dishes. With food choices like The Hangover Special, diners know they're in for a good time while savoring delicious cuisine.

The Old Post Office Cafe is an enduring symbol of North Lake Tahoe's unique local culture. This a reminder that preserving history is vital to the region and that business success is defined by one tasty meal at a time.

Vibe

Visit the Old Post Office Cafe for a journey that links North Lake Tahoe's colorful past with the area's contemporary future.

Don't expect a vintage red brick building with white pillars when you first visit. Instead, you'll discover a wooden structure painted in earth tones that resembles someone's home more than a restaurant.

Entering the cafe, the design blossoms, showcasing post office memorabilia, and Lake Tahoe aesthetics.

A hand-carved wood counter encircles the window, perfect for savoring coffee and pancakes while enjoying the stunning view.

The interior decor tastefully blends classic and modern themes well. The bar is a classic example. Beneath the massive wood countertop are vintage post office boxes, a reminder to guests of its purpose decades before.

Wooden tables, comfortable seating, and chic light fixtures emitting a soft, warm glow create an inviting atmosphere. Walls adorned with retro post office paraphernalia and framed historical photos add an authentic, nostalgic touch to the ambiance.

The cafe balances a bustling, energetic atmosphere with quieter corners for those looking for a peaceful respite.

The ambiance at the Old Post Office Cafe is a delightful blend of old and new, providing a unique experience that leaves visitors longing for their next visit.
