About

With a history as warm and comforting as Mom’s apple pie, the Mercier Orchards has been serving the North Georgia area since 1941.

Our story follows Bill Mercier, who arrived in Blue Ridge in 1941 to work as the county agricultural agent. Two years later, Bill and his wife, Adele, purchased a 27-acre orchard and an apple house from a local pharmacist. Today, you can spot that original building when you pull into the parking lot.

Those early days were simple, with the orchard requiring the couple’s sweat equity and Adele selling fruit from the apple house to passersby.

As the orchard grew, so did the Mercier family and the fruit stand’s reputation. Fast forward more than 80 years, and Mercier Orchards stands as a fourth-generation, family-owned, and veteran-operated farm. But one thing has remained the same: the family’s values. At its core, you’ll find organic fruit and a family-friendly farm. Here, visitors flock to the U-Pick fields for apples and blueberries, shop the bustling market and bakery, and explore the onsite winery.

Additionally, Mercier Orchards is North Georgia's most popular agritourism destination. But as you read the Mercier family’s story, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The honor reflects the family’s commitment to quality fruit and a welcoming attitude toward all who visit.

For travelers exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, stopping at this family-owned farm offers a genuine taste of local history and Southern farm life.

Mercier Orchards: Fun Facts & Cool Features

The U-Pick events are a must-experience on a North Georgia getaway. These seasonal timeframes translate into opportunities to wander the fields and gather strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and over 40 varieties of apples!

Spring brings blossom tours, when the farm tractor pulls guests around the 300 acres to take in the colorful blooms. Speaking of vibrant tours, the Flower U-Pick is popular. The tractor will take you to the flower fields where you can hand-pick blooms to take home or share.

The U-Pick events offer an outdoor opportunity for kids and adults to fill baskets with fresh-off-the-vine fruit. Here, time slows down, families reconnect, and memories are made.

Then there's the bakery, known for its home-baked goods and aromas that make it hard to walk past. The apple cider donuts come out warm and disappear fast, and the fried pies have a following all their own. Toss in the apple fritters, cookies, and whole pies, and you’ll be hard-pressed to decide which to buy! But, if you’re like most visitors, you’ll leave with a box tucked under one arm…or two!

An adult-only appeal is that Mercier Orchards is the only Georgia apple orchard that grows, presses, ferments, and cans its own hard cider. The tasting room invites you to slow down, sip a few selections, and enjoy a taste of Southern tradition.

The market is stocked with fresh seasonal produce, along with farm-favorite jams, jellies, preserves, and apple butter.

Another appealing aspect is the seasonal events, like Santa at the Farm. This one-day event features tractor tours, cookies, photos with Santa, and much more. And if you’re an angler, you can fish the ponds for free, just keep in mind that they have a catch-and-release policy.

As you can see, visiting the Mercier Orchards packs history, flavor, and fun into one location. For families chasing memories and travelers craving authentic mountain charm, this farm will delight.
