About

I love to spend time hiking at any time of the year. During the recent spring, I took a trip to McCall and was impressed with the numerous hiking options available. One of the most memorable experiences I had was the West Face Trailhead

I found out from talking to a few locals that this trail is mostly used for snowmobiling, and I plan to do that again when I visit in the coming year. However, it is also a marked trail for hiking. I found that it allows for some great experiences.

During the warmer weather, you can hike from the West Face Trailhead to Goose Creek Falls, which is a really impressive and beautiful place.

The trail is a lightly used hiking path, and that was perfect for me because I really wanted to be more in tune with the natural area and less on a paved, mundane route. I saw a lot of birds and a fox or two during my trip through the area. I sat down for a while and watched a group of deer move through the area, saw some bear scat, and observed dozens of smaller critters.

The trailhead is easy to spot, which will help you explore the local wilderness. There is a parking area available, from which you can then follow the trailhead for as long as you like. It is an in-and-back-out type of trail, and if you take it slow, you are sure to find it is a couple of hours of fantastic nature viewing and relaxation that is well worth the experience.

For travelers seeking an authentic and serene hiking experience, the West Face Trailhead in McCall offers an opportunity to escape the crowded trails and immerse oneself in the natural beauty of Idaho. The abundance of wildlife and breathtaking scenery make this trail a must-visit for anyone looking to connect with the great outdoors.
