About

While I was in town for a few days for some McCall water fun, I decided to dedicate some time checking out the area’s parks. I love nature, so any type of it is just fine for me. I found myself visiting Legacy Park, which is a large, multi-use park right in the Downtown McCall area of the city. I was here in June, and it was pretty busy with lots of people and a range of things to do.

There’s a swimming area, which is somewhat enclosed and is a comfortable place to lounge and relax. I didn’t come to swim, but I did wade through the cool water since it was a warmer day.

There are also a few picnic tables set up, which is where I sat for a bit and just took in the area and got caught up on some emails I had. I also watched a group of teens playing volleyball on the court. What fun that looked to be, and to have the park so close to everything must be a treat feature.

It’s also super easy to go from watching the water to shopping at the stores nearby. I was able to stop in at the Mountain Java location to pick up a cup of coffee along the way and then visited a few of the smaller shops here. I felt like I was in the heart of the area.

If you have some time to check it out during your McCall vacation, I definitely recommend it!

Interesting Facts About Legacy Park

When I was walking through some of the stores nearby, I learned that Legacy Park is actually a relatively new addition to the city’s downtown area.

I asked, and the very nice woman told me that a lot of people and businesses in the community came together to raise funds for the park and took the time to make it a special, beautiful location in the heart of the city.

The park is beautiful in terms of the overall access to the waterfront and the mountains in the distance. I could sit here and watch the water all day, and even though there were a lot of people in the sand and throughout the park, it was still peaceful.

It was also very clean—I didn’t see any messes anywhere. Just goes to show what a community can do when we come together!

Getting There

Legacy Park is located in the downtown area of McCall, very much in the heart of the busy area. And you can’t miss it since it is a large park. It’s located just north of Hotel McCall and on East Lake Street.

When you are visiting, there is parking for the park located just to the east of it, which wasn’t full when I visited. However, if you find that it’s full, there is more parking throughout the area, including behind City Hall and off East Lake Street.
