About

Greetings, fellow wanderers! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Art Roberts Park on E. Lake Street, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth sharing.

As soon as I stepped into the park, I was greeted by a burst of greenery, with trees swaying gently in the wind and the sunlight filtering through their leaves. The vibe was instantly calming, making it seem like a peaceful oasis tucked away from the city's hustle and bustle.

The park itself is well-maintained, with plenty of space to spread out a picnic blanket or kick around a soccer ball. There are also several benches scattered around for those who prefer to sit back and soak in the surroundings. What I loved most about the park was its tranquility – it felt like a little piece of paradise in the heart of the city.

Now, onto my recommendations. If you're a fitness enthusiast, the park's walking and jogging trails are a must-try. For families, there's a charming playground that's sure to keep the little ones entertained. And don't forget to pack a picnic—there's nothing quite like enjoying a leisurely lunch amidst the park's scenic beauty.

After spending some time at Art Roberts Park, I ventured into the nearby area and discovered a delightful array of restaurants and shops. My personal favorite was the cozy café just a stone's throw away from the park—perfect for grabbing a coffee and a quick bite.

If you have more time on your hands, I highly recommend exploring other parks in the vicinity. Each one offers its own unique charm and is worth a visit.

A little tip for my fellow travelers—the park tends to get a bit crowded during weekends, so if you're looking for some quiet time, try visiting on a weekday.

All in all, Art Roberts Park and the surrounding area offer a delightful mix of tranquility, fun, and exploration. It's definitely worth adding to your travel itinerary!

Getting There

It’s easy to find Art Roberts Park because it is right downtown on the waterfront and it’s located just to the north of 2nd Street.

When you visit, you can park on the street just across from the park. However, there is also available parking at the library and behind the city hall building. If you come later in the day, parking can be hard to find, I learned.

Cost

Since this is a public park, there is no fee to enjoy the fun!

Local Tips

  • There’s never a lifeguard on duty, from what I learned, so you have to swim at your own risk here.
  • The park is open from dawn to dusk, but I recommend staying as long as you can right before closing to catch the sun going down. With the view, it is stunning here.
  • If you are bringing smaller kids to swim, be careful with the water, as it can quickly take over when a boat passes by or the weather picks up.
  • Legacy Park, which is right down the shore from this park, has a lot more people, but they also have more beach areas to enjoy. I recommend this as a second choice when that beach is just too crowded.
